yes, and most customers have no qualms on voiding the warranty of their phone, as any request for repair with apple service would most probably be changing pcb and data reset.

most customers will just go to the local shops and do the repair at a cheaper price and at the same time conserving their data.

I think most of us got it very cheap from recontract... That was my last recontract... Really dirt cheap...

600 for a piece of mind better lah... No way there are production line producing 20x.... They should have move on. Long ago

I ordered it from taobao. cost less than $100.

I'd checked with 2 phone shop in JB, but none wanna do it.

so I'm gonna do it myself. it's just plug and play, no soldering needed. don't even need to remove the battery. just need to heat up the back cover to remove it.

will try to upload a video then.

the seller even took a video of them testing it and showing the IMEI no. before sending it. hope it's survived the sea shipping.

I fitted it liao

it works! but the backup and restore took very long.

I tried performing backup using thumbdrive, but it was taking too long.

the PC HiSuite backup was quite fast.

after swapping, I tried restoring, but the transfer was like 3mb/s for 20+ GB ofndata.. it is still restoring at the moment. I saw my WhatsApp fully restored just now.

the HiSuite works with both EMUI and HarmonyOS.

My set is now Harmony OS 2.

will update after i fully tested the phone.

alright guys, tested the phone over the weekend and the phone feel so much snappy!

not sure if it is due to the bigger ram and disk space, or reduced used space from 100+gb to 75gb or faulty mainboard.

i also feel better battery consumption and cooler phone, which might be caused by faulty capacitor from the old mainboard.

overall, very satisfied with this cheap upgrade. initially thought the battery was degrading and intend to buy a battery to replace it. but it seems like the battery works just fine after the upgrade and data restore.

when i restore from my backup, all my google apps are inside. gpay, map, singpass and banks no issue.

hoping to get HarmonyOS 3.0 next year.

Strange, launched Citibank app today (haven't used it for a while) and it says my phone is rooted and exit ....

kernel was updated in Aug 2022 and security patch in Mar 2022.
