A bit late but since 14th May 2025 there are some changes to SEC Transaction Fee and FINRA Consolidated Audit Trail Fees (only for Stocks, ETFs, Warrants and Certificates, Options). The change in SEC Transaction Fee benefits all brokers including IBKR.

Previously I mentioned that there is more fees incurred when selling vs buying mainly due to SEC Transaction Fee, and it becomes more apparent when trading a higher number of shares like 100 to 200. So this is a welcome change now that the SEC Transaction Fee is waived and FINRA Consolidated Audit Trail Fees is reduced.

Wild guess, IBKR lite is available in USA for a period of time already. You just get slower execution and higher margin rate. For typical DCA purpose, it make sense to just use the lite version.

You work for an employer offering an Employee Stock Purchase Program (ESPP) with U.S. listed shares. In this situation you can transfer the ESPP shares to Interactive Brokers, sell them with zero broker commissions, and reinvest the proceeds in a low cost, tax appropriate, diversified way.

It should be free for partial account transfers at least. Let's suppose for example you have 18.62 shares of XYZ (your ESPP shares) in your employer-sponsored eTrade account. You should be able to transfer any whole number of shares (such as 18 in this example) to your Interactive Brokers account. Usually that's a "pull" (i.e. you initiate the transfer on the Interactive Brokers side). But quite often an employer-sponsored ESPP account offers a "push" option, i.e. you can initiate the transfer from the ESPP account.

Typically the transfer will take about 2 or 3 trading days to complete.

FWIW I participate in an ESPP, and I usually only keep about 2 years of ESPP shares at the employer-sponsored account. I transfer whole shares that are "older" than about 2 years to another broker, I routinely sell those shares, and I reinvest the proceeds.

Definitely not, I couldn't select Lite as a Singaporean.

The above poster said it might be available soon, that'll be amazing.

I have been reducing my trade movement to reduce on transaction fees. If we get $0 trade fees, I will go so crazy rebalancing my portfolio everyday.
