Starting from February 1, foreigners of Chinese descent are able to apply for a visa that allows them to stay in China for up to five years or enter the country multiple times over the same period once they meet the prerequisites, according to a new visa policy from the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) on January 22.2018年2月8日

Living cost is low. And we speak the same language.
Would it be better than going to Thailand or Malaysia???

People don't even want to buy property becos Rent one is cheaper.

Depends where you intend to live in China, International tier Cities like Shanghai, Beijing, Shenzhen & Guangzhou are at the same cost of living if not more expensive than SG. Some other factors to consider is healthcare facilities and can you adapt to the food and culture in the place you retire in China. Healthcare facilities in upper tier cities can match SG, but one has to lower expectations on software aspects. If one has the expectations that everything must be SG standards and are not prepared to adapt oneself, i can say it's better stay in SG. If can adapt and mingle around with the locals, you have a huge place to explore when one settle down in China.
