I'm stuck in shipping industry for close to 8 years. Doing fp&a. Trying to move out but only other industry approaching me is logistics or freight forwarder companies. Received a 10% increase offer some time back but rejected it as I felt it could mean I will be stuck forever in logistics though the role was really a one man show and lots of growth and learning opportunities
Push factors to move out
1. Reduce risk of being branded as having only knowledge in logistics sector
2. Pay too high. Knowledge in other industries very limited so companies not willing to offer
3. Boss character is ok outside work. But he creates alot of sh1t in his role and those sh1t eventually ends up passed down to me to clear and tidy up
4. Boss has no clue how to develop or motivate team. I had to give him ideas to keep team motivated and ensure that there is some form of development for the other members of the team including myself
5. More and more feels like my role is just tank sai role lol. Sometimes HQ screw up also we have to tell them to clear their sai
Pull factors to stay
1. Other colleagues within department still quite united. Not much politics inter department as well
2. There's an estimated 28k vb coming in Apr
