Doctor will only give pain killer and advise physiotherapy? My mother also been buying glucosamine through out the years but no improvement
sometimes if problem too advance which may be in yr case, these supplenents can do little. they are more for prevention and maintenance

I was taking glucosamine supplements for more than a decade before a knee issue forced me to see an orthopaedic specialist. It was then I learnt that glucosamine supps don't help in joint issues. So stop wasting your money on them.
This was also echoed by another specialist I saw. More effective is to lose weight to lessen the stress on the knees.
This. If you check the ingredients of those glucosamine that seems to be effective, most contain pain relief ingredients. So you can achieve the same effect by direct pain relief medication. Save money too. But this is just temporary relief, which also explains why glucosamine that works don't seem long term and problems persist after you stop using. This is becos the effective ingredient is pain relief medication, not the glucosamine.

Lose weight if you are overweight. Do squats to strengthen and loosen the tight knee joints. These things will help you much more than any supplements.

should be looking at physio, then gradually build up to be able to do mobility exercise

old people problem typically is pain then they don't want to move around liao... end up deteriorate even faster

body you don't use, will revert to bare minimum specs

eat simi stuff but dont move much also wont add much, since those ligament, tendon, cartilage simi all are not fed much by blood vessels... only when you move then nutrients will be pumped and circulated better around those parts better
