Landlord charges exorbitant rates from Mar’22 at $0.90kwh as we as a tenant using submeter which capture monthly and bill us accordingly what their electric service provider charged.
Best is during discussion shows us bill amount they’re paying & accidentally slipped and we saw the $0.38kwh and excuses will transmission & miscellaneous charges derived into $0.90kwh rates.
Anyone know where to seek for relevant authorities for help etc.
This is obviously Landlord taking advantage of tenant & we need to stand up for this matter.
Kindly advise if anyone have any knowledge on this!

Silent clause
For the past year whatever rate the electric retailer charge them they’ll charge us accordingly but this time the rates is exorbitant and the landlord usage & capacity is at least 5times more than us, will any business owner don’t contract with TRECS options but instead pay this high rates?
The key is lack of transparency!

Actually you aren’t very clear with your context. Maybe give more info?

TA do not have any clause on landlord are free to charge any rates as they like.
As we’re running on submeter therefore every month they will send their man capture our submeter & bill us accordingly to electric provider charge them.
Inanother words, the TA is considered on the utilities clause is silent.

I think you need to consult a lawyer.

Tks anyway & legal advisory already engaged but just to see other views in this matter. We need to know at times is not about landlord taking advantage of tenants but we need to stand firm & most of the times there’ll be fair trial & justice served.

what matters is what's in the contract. so if landlord is covered by the contract, there it is not taking advtange or not. it is just carrying out the contract.

I think you need to consult a lawyer or maybe a free legal initiative or Hoh Corporation (which is kind of as budget as it goes).

But if the tenancy agreement does not state that you as tenant need to pay utilities, I think technically you are not obliged to pay utilities.

But I am not a lawyer. Best is you find a lawyer! Good luck!
