Is there a slightly thicker laptop that you recommend?

Also, a lot of laptops also don't have a good cooling solution despite being slightly thicker. Like purposely cut down to a single fan when it can have 2. So prefer one that is not that half-assed.

I also worry about the durability of this LG gram.
The laptop I was eyeing is not as light as the LG Gram. I was contemplating buying either the Asus Vivobook Pro 14 or Lenovo Slim 7 Pro. These are heavier options with both around 2KG, but I feel the dual fans cooling solution to be worth the extra weight. I was more inclined towards Lenovo because it is cheaper, and the Premium onsite warranty + Accident Damage Protection (ADP) makes it more attractive.

I am thinking to get ROG Zephyrus, the internal design is quite solid and the form factor is just nice.

IdeaPad 5 Pro Gen 7

this one not bad also i think

The intel 12th gen Core i5-1240P is actually faster than the i7-1260P so save the $200 price difference to ownself get a better ssd.

This one looks like the ram is soldered. LPDDR5 is not the usual DIMM version. Now that you mentioned, I did consider the IdeaPad 5 Pro, though the older version of it running the 5800H.

6800HS should be more power-efficient. Then if I take the 680M variant, the power brick is also smaller for carrying around, and performance is decent too.

But I guess no stocks

I am not sure if it is more power efficient (if compared with the older 5800HS), though that is what AMD claimed. Haha. However, the iGPU is very capable for sure. Couple with faster LPDDR5, I think it will fair well within the thermal limits.
Stock is typically very low at the start. It will take at least 4 to 6 months from the "release date" before supply stabilizes from what I observed since AMD's Renoir APU. I waited for a Renoir based laptop until I gave up and bought the Ice Lake U based IdeaPad 5.

Finally managed to get hold of the LG Gram 16 (2022) and the +view external monitor. Disclaimer: Mine's a review unit from LG.

The 2022 model now uses a matte display instead of the very reflective one from 2021. This is a huge improvement. I used to have the LG Gram 16 and the only thing I didn't not like is the reflective display.

It doesn't seem like the +view 16-inch external display is currently available.
The +view monitor has good colours, bright, matte surface, lightweight and is 1440P.
I have many portable monitors and this is one of the better ones.
I really hope they sell this in Singapore, and at a reasonable price, or try to bundle with the laptop.

Below are the prices on Shopee and Lazada

14-inch
$1899 - 16GB, 512GB SSD, i5, free 512GB ext SSD
$2199 - 16GB, 512GB SSD, i7, free 512GB ext SSD

16-inch
$2399 - 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, i5, free powerbank
$2499 - 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD, i5, free powerbank
$2599 - 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, i7, free powerbank + charger
$2700 - 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD, i7, free powerbank + charger

17-inch
$2499 - 16GB, 512GB SSD, i5, free powerbank
$2699 - 16GB, 512GB SSD, i7, free powerbank
$2899 - 16GB, 1TB SSD, i7, free powerbank

Singapore does not sell the 15-inch model. Thank goodness because that has a 1080P display, and it's not even 1920 x 1200. Even the 14-inch has 1920 x 1200 resolution.

The pricing seems alright.

If you compare with the Apple M2 Macbook Air with 16GB RAM 512GB storage which is $2299, pricing is competitive. Unless you're really into Mac, you can add $100 to get the 1.2KG 16-inch vs the 1.24KG 13-inch M1 Macbook Air.

Main downside of the LG is battery life. Actually the downside is with Windows laptops. Haven't got chance to test the battery but I was able to get 12 hours Youtube playback with the 2021 model.

16-inch vs 17-inch?
I actually recommend the 16-inch because it's 1.2KG vs 1.35KG.
16-inch display already looks and feels big.
I've also tried 17-inch before and it's huge and definitely very satisfying.
1.35KG is actually not too bad and for a 17-inch laptop is almost unreal.
I remember taking it out of the cardboard box and it felt like the
cardboard box was heavier than the laptop.

Anywhere where I can get to have a hands-on experience with both 16 and 17 inch, preferably with different colour options as well.

It seems that the number pad on the 16 inch is 3 columns while the 17 inch is 4 columns (like the full sized keyboard).

16-inch keyboard is less wide. The keys are less wide than the standard keys.
And layout is also different due to 3 vs 4 columns.
All the buttons are still there but it will take some time to get used to the layout.

Where did you buy it from? Why 16" and not 17"? i5 or i7? I'm currently deciding between 16 or 17". A pity no models here have 32GB RAM.
It depends which size you previously are using.

I used t490 14inch, felt 17 inch was too much thus i proceed with 16 inch. The exterior size make a part too.. think it was abt 2.5cm longer for 17 inch
