MND stats shows a 5 fold increase in chicken related feedback over the last 3 years. Not surprisingly , this issue is serious enough to have been discussed in parliament recently.

I have been driven to the brink living around Bishan Park with roosters crowing at all hours from 4am at times.

Having tried for the last 2 years to get Nparks to help solve this with no results so far

Looking for long time sufferers of rooster noise to get some new ideas.

Hello there. Unfortunately I’m a very light sleeper & anything on me just makes me more agitated. Have you also noticed chickens flourishing all over the island these days?

Hmmm, I do notice a lot of them at Labrador Park and Botanic Gardens, but around my home there's not much greenery so no chickens at all...

My wife is very sensitive to sound, so we had to install soundproofing in our bedroom to counter noisy & inconsiderate neighbours above.

Right but I’m glad you guys can manage the noise effectively. For me a/c is not an option coz I’ve sinus issues….so got to have the windows open.

I’ve gone to see the MP a few weeks back . Not sure how it’ll play out. When I was there , I heard one of the staff joking about someone complaining about small matters like chicken noise….people just don’t care if it doesn’t affect them.

At least some posters about not feeding have gone up. Unfortunately would have been more effective if the roosters could read them… would have left the park by themselves😫

that is unfair to the roosters
just so because they make noise

the otters should be gone first judging by the havoc they wreaked through out the island and over the years

at list rooster can eat

🙂 I’ve lived here for 25+ years & it was much more peaceful in the early days when I first moved in. Nothing against any particular species but daily interrupted sleep from the crowing is my main problem. ( I read someone’s commentary on CNA recently comparing the rooster crowing sound to a jet plane at close range….not sure what’s the research but I can tell you it’s quite deafening when they come close) . There are a lot of graceful & beautiful water birds feeding in shallows of the river here ,which hardly make a splash…I love seeing them here.

But I agree if more otter attacks are reported it should be taken seriously. People’s safety must be prioritised. Even just saving 1 person from potential harm justifies it….whatever the species 🫡

Sorry I did not notice from your og post that you are affected by it

do you sleep with aircon switched on and curtains drawn? Heared that curtains help with noise isolation

by the way I am curious where do you hail from?

hehe I’m in the Bishan area. Nothing to be sorry about, just sharing my plight. On top of being a light sleeper I also have sinus issues so closing things up is not an option for me….also electricity rates are going through the roof no?? 😫 do you notice this explosion of rooster/chickens all over Singapore over the last few years? I was at SGH/HPB recently & saw a lot of them around there & the Cantonment area….these are CBC ( Central
Business Chickens ) 😁 you can hear them even at the Pinnacles. Not good when a health care facility also starts to gets these feathery residents…..

my current hypothesis is that it is a deliberate release for "feng shui" purposes.
expect to see more such flocks and little action taken to remove.
but seriously can a bunch of roosters replace the yang qi of senior daoist cultivators...
wun be so easy i think
but ... let see.

Hmmm interesting thought…..
Better “Feng shui” at the expense of some peace & quiet may not be a good trade off.
I guess Feng shui & unwanted pets may all be reasons for this growing issue 😁

This morning they went off around 2am…I wonder if they even crow in their dreams..🐔 Sometimes I’m amazed how such a small bird can generate such a loud sound…that’s the whole problem..it just takes 2-3 of ‘em in close proximity to cause a big ruckus.

Well the no feeding posters have gone up here at least & it’s a step forward after the last few years, so let’s see what else happens. I stand with my neighbours in Sin Ming estate , who have long suffered the rooster noise these many years. Many I’m sure have lost countless hours of sleep & peace because of this.

Let not the unfortunate “Rooster City” label be one day bestowed upon us!

Cheers!

The so called hecklers & ACRES are talking like this because they have not been victims of these birds. When it happens to themselves or people close to them, they will be the first to call for their extermination!
