I am now officially under M1's 3Gbps network :) My ONT installation went smoothly today. I updated my BE230's firmware first, then factory reset before changing my SSID and Wifi password. My 2nd BE230 EasyMesh setup was also done successfully. Speedtest done. Wifi 1.3Gbps on my tablet while 2.5Gbps on my PC (ethernet).

Note: The Huawei ONT does run much warmer than my previous Singtel ONR. And mine is placed in the open on my TV console. Hence, I set up an elevated platform with attached fan (I use 25% speed) to cool the ONT's hot butt. Now the ONT runs cool when I touch it.

So it seems they refuse to give the $15 off for 6gbps. Only have $13 off for 10gbps, which I don’t need, cables are only cat 5e. Ask CS for voucher they say ask shop. Shop say cannot do anything on their end.

Might switch to 1/2.5gbps or just change to MR/SH.

between TP-Link Archer BE805 and ASUS RT-BE92U, which is a better router in terms of range and features?
Am leaning towards TP-Link Archer BE805. But with the recent issues mentioned by others (eg: intermediate disconnect, dropping of speed, etc.), should i still go ahead with TP-Link Archer BE805?

Hi, I just did that on Thurs night, it's not very intuitive but if you select recontract there should be a coupon before checkout, remember to check the box and apply the coupon before checking out.

I manage to recontract to 6gbps at m1 shop yesterday night. For existing customers there should be coupons to bring the price down to $3x.

The m1 staff also said for customers switching from other providers, if you provide the most recent fiber bill (for them to verify address) there are also discounts!

For those who re-contracted to 6gbps with $15 promo code, please set a reminder on your calendar on the 20th month onwards.

Reminder to timely re-contract before 24-months is up, otherwise you will be paying $99/mth from 25th month.

Later heart attac

The new installation for the M1 6G came today, ending my old M1 1G plan. Tested speed around 5.8G, not too shabby. My old Huawei GPON EchoLife HG8240H5 ONT was replaced with the new Huawei XGS-PON OptiXstar HN8250Ts-20 ONT, which comes with a 1x 10G port. Will be load-balancing this with the MR 10G network. Still running it on 1G due to the NIC limitation on my firewall appliance, need to find time to upgrade the NIC......

Old Huawei GPON EchoLife HG8240H5 ONT:

New Huawei XGS-PON OptiXstar HN8250Ts-20 ONT, which comes with a 1x 10G port. Much smaller than the MR Nokia ONT (below):

The old one is only for up to 1G and has been pretty reliable for the past 4+ years.

As for the new ONT, not too hot for me either. Just make sure the cabinet has sufficient airflow. I use 2x 14cm USB fans to blow the hot air out from the opening.

I just went to M1 tampines today Sat 31 May. They said the $35.90/mth (no more $34.90/mth) price is for port in customers. Re-contract is $44.90/mth only.

You could go back to M1 Shop and sing to them "I look left look right look left look right, looking for a good broadband deal. Is it really so hard to find?" 🙂

Dear all, i finally managed to recontract the M1 fibre 6gbps for 24months with the TP Link Archer BE805 for $32.90/mth. Previously was on 1gbps for $40/mth with no more contract.

Basically i find that M1 itself isn't clear about its own promotions. Whether it's through their online live agent or their own M1 shops (was at Tampines Mall branch). This was utterly disappointing. In stores, it was $35.90/mth but only for new customers. For recontract in stores, it was $47.90/mth.

My best source of information and confirmation? HWZ forums!

So how did i get this? Share this for those who are eligible to recontract:
  1. I went into my M1 app. Went to my existing fibre broadband plans
  2. There was a link that said i was eligible for recontract. Clicked on it. From there i went to the M1 website
  3. Online the price initially was $44.90/mth (again diff from stores). After i clicked to contract and mentioned recontract, i had to re-log in to see available vouchers.
  4. This is the important part. I finally saw the magic one. The $15/mth off for 24months. Clicked on APPLY
  5. Checked out after i made sure all details were correct and selected the dates for equipment delivery and equipment installation.

So how it became $32.90/mth? They used the in-store price of $47.90 - 15 = $32.90/mth.

Such a headache. But i hope it helps those still trying to find this promo, especially for those eligible for recontract (provided you have a similar voucher)

Thx HWZ Forums!

Yes i am using TP Link BE805, the SSID for 5G and 2.4G will drop every 2 days. So i did a scheduler reboot everyday. Today, there is a new firmware update to fix this, so I have removed the scheduler reboot to monitor the situation
