Tbh if it’s by apple, probably not too worried.

apple’s supply chain very diverse
Don’t have too much faith in apple products lol. Hardware failure for one of the components is possible within 3 years, although the probability is low.

What’s your use case again?
Mainly discord and browsing. have over 100 servers. and browsing, usually 10 tabs at once (web 3, NFT stuffs, so sometimes heavy on graphics, though not to extreme requirements lol). don't game, but sometimes need to run LolBeans or smashkarts. sometimes.

the thing is, it doesn't make sense to get 8/512 on education pricing.

i just want something that WORKS lol without maintenance.. bought a nuc8 two years ago, regret not getting top end nuc11 back then. now with simply discord and browser open, my desktop slows to a crawl (hovers 60-80% cpu usage, ram 6-8gb typically). fan spins up to a very audible level, maybe 50db? once i open these two apps.

Then which country it is from wouldn’t make a difference no?

I think might be better for you to get more ram since that can’t be upgraded

depends, some country have different plugs, and some might have different internal parts, just like iPhones made for Chinese and US markets are different than sg models etc

That’s why I bought apple care for peace of mind lol. To repair apple products is really super ex.
i think it's a risk appetite thing. no right or wrong.

maybe more important for those devices that are mobile.

for those desktop kind, especially those low value like min, ppl may feel they rather buy a new one.

Oh yes and hearing that the base model 256GB has lower read/write speeds too (correct me if I’m wrong)

so the 512GB might be better

depends on use case also. if your use case doesn't need you to do much of that. no point paying more for it

Just ordered the m2 base model lol. Played around with the air m2 base model at courts today, the only time the memory pressure turned yellow and swapping of about 330mb was when I tried editing a video. Which I don’t do, ever.

didn’t test discord yet. Maybe got time go and log in my account there and see.

Ordered my first Mac yesterday. M2 Pro, 32GB, 1TB. It’s going to replace my old Intel NUC from 2016.

My desktop setup is a CalDigit TS4 dock. Connected to two 32” 4k monitors, wired ethernet, Logitech MX keyboard and Logitech MX Master 3S mouse. I like the easiness of plugging one cable from the dock and that’s it.

Looking forward to becoming a Mac user :)

Just curious what you use your setup for? Is it for professional work?

It’s for work and personal use. When working, I plug my work laptop into the dock. Personal use is with the upcoming Mac mini, currently still with old Intel NUC.

I like the ease of switching Thunderbolt cable from work machine to personal and back. I have always preferred two screens with enough screen size, so I have all the windows visible that I need at the time.
