To be fair sheff utd didn't pose much threat to us. We were in control almost the whole match. Is matter of can we break down their walls.

a lot of recent times in similar situation, we couldn't break up teams and end up making things difficult for ourselves.
so its a plus for last night's game.

Wolves keep on winning, piling up the pressure on us. :o

Good to have someone on Utd's tail to pile pressure, if not these players win 1 game then next game relax mode.

If we had won against Spurs, we will be within 1 point to Chelsea like pre covid. Hopefully City tonight will win Chelsea.

Sheffield United posed little threat to us, with their attackers not sharp and most of their play relying on counterattacks.
Even if they were not playing with their main defence, I thought they did pretty alright and it was the sharpness of AnthonyM which gave us the edge. MarcusR is seriously out of form, and probably needs a few more games to start getting back. Thankfully his passing wasn't off, only his shooting.
Still not too sure whether this BrunoF+PaulP combo is what we are looking for long term. To me, BrunoF seems to be pulling all the strings and I'm not sure if PaulP would be happy with that.
Thought NemanjaM was quite solid, appearing at the right places many times, and without too many mispasses.
I like AaronWB's new pinball crosses ala AntonioV. Some variety will hopefully lead to some success in his generally low crosses.

And agree, the sound effects were pretty good and well-timed. Is it a studio/broadcaster's post-process or is it actually being played in the grounds?

Standout performers for me were Matic and Bruno.

Pogba did well too, very disciplined but effective performance. Personally I feel he's a different Pogba now after he returned from his long term absence.

Greenwood played better than what Dan James usually can offer us. James always push the ball too far, run to byline and get outmuscled hoping for a free kick one.

MR10 was awful, both attacking & defensive wise. I hope his diva mindset doesn't come back. Pls improve soon because he's the weak link on our left flank which led to Shaw being unable to cope.

Whenever I see Lindesoft trying to get the first high ball in 1v1 situation, I still get the shivers :s13:

There was a time when I thought VictorL was developing a good defensive partnership with ChrisS. But for the whole season seeing him alongside HarryM, I wonder what has happened. Some may say ChrisS made him look good, but I wouldn't agree. He just seems "unsteady" this whole season.

Souness criticises Martial after first Man Utd hat-trick

Graeme Souness thinks that Anthony Martial needs to be more like Marcus Rashford if he is to get to the top of his game at Man Utd.

Having impressed under Louis Van Gaal following his arrival from Monaco, the 24-year-old endured a topsy-turvy few years and Jose Mourinho was keen to sell the inconsistent forward.

But successor Ole Gunnar Solskjaer put his faith in Martial and gave him the number nine shirt back at the start of the season, and the former Man Utd striker helped him fine tune his work in front of goal.

The 1999 treble hero has been rewarded with the France international’s best goalscoring season to date, with Wednesday’s impressive treble taking his tally to 19 and sealing a 3-0 win against the Blades at an empty Old Trafford.

Despite acknowledging that Martial played well against Sheff Utd, Souness was still critical of his overall attitude to football.

“The third one [goal] was class,” Souness told Sky Sports.

“But we know he’s class. He’s got everything to be a top player if he could just have the same enthusiasm as Rashford the way he (conducts himself).

“There’s no doubt Martial is a proper player but he seems to hide it, sometimes he doesn’t seem interested but he was tonight. Maybe the answer is for him to score early in every game he plays and stays interested.”

The United Stand@UnitedStandMUFC
Unbelievably, that is the FIRST hat-trick by a Frenchman for Manchester United.
And it belongs to Anthony Martial!

Anthony Martial scores Manchester United's first Premier League hat-trick since Robin van Persie in 2013

Martial on his hat-trick: "It was special for me because it's my first one, and I hope it's not the last one. The most important thing is the win, so everyone is happy." #mulive [sky]
