Alan Shearer pinpoints Manchester United's biggest improvement

Alan Shearer believes one of Manchester United’s big improvements since the Premier League returned is how many players they are committing to attacks.

United strolled to their first victory since their top-flight campaign restarted last week as they secured a 3-0 win over Sheffield United at Old Trafford on Wednesday night.

Anthony Martial was United’s hero as he scored his side's first Premier League hat-trick of the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era.

It was also the Frenchman’s first hat-trick of his professional career and boosted his side’s hopes of securing Champions League football next season.

And Shearer believes Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have been playing with more attacking intent since the Premier League restarted.

“There are definitely big improvements, particularly going forward in the number of players they were committing,” he told Match of the Day on Wednesday night.

“At times, they had five and six players, when the team presses that high it’s what United want because they have the pace to hurt you.

“They’re certainly playing with confidence and they look fresh.

"Sheffield United were poor defensively and they're missing big players but Martial looked so lively in and around the six-yard box. His finishing was superb.

"Look at the men they've got in the box ready to finish it off (for the second goal). If it doesn't fall to Martial there it goes to someone else.

"This (the third goal) was sublime. Little touch from Bruno Fernandes, into Martial, give and go, a pass into his path and the finish was excellent. A hat-trick for him and his first hat-trick in English football. Very, very good."

Honestly wouldn’t mind. If as usual Ed drags the whole transfer window and then never purchase Sancho, Utd should go all out for Traore. At least when he push the ball and run, not many defender can outmuscle him as compared to James.

need to act fast. pool also going for traore. if we go for him then should also get raul. can swap them with lingard and ap15 plus 1 free jones.

Congrats to them for their one and only one in the modern era :D:D

As long as Man Utd can't put up a strong challenge, I am not concern who will the next one..... But at least not with such a big margin.

Lol. You blame others for united inconpetence. United is no where near pool this season. :)
Yet the players gave a vibe that they performed so well.
we cannot rely on united getting 5th and get UCL...

We need to win UEL also

I don’t blame others for utd incompetence, since when I did?

But it’s true that Pep didn’t even mount a strong enough challenge for this season. Even Ole also can win Pep. 🤷🏽?♂️

I think is all downhill for City from here. Crash out of CL then ban from CL and Pep and Co will leave.
