The German was confirmed on Monday as United's interim manager until the end of the season, and his first game in charge is now set to be at home to Crystal Palace on Sunday.

Jamie Carragher believes Ralf Rangnick's chief task at Manchester United will be to identify the club's next permanent manager.

"But Rangnick's biggest job is identifying the next coach. The top people at the club will be taking advice from him. He will want the next coach to be in his image so he'll be almost getting them ready for the next coach and how they want to play."

Carragher warned, though, that Rangnick's trademark high-press approach - a "heavy metal" style he has admitted to sharing with Liverpool's Jurgen Klopp - could take time to implement.

So what does Rangnick's imminent arrival mean for United's current squad? In his most recent spell as a manager, at RB Leipzig, Rangnick oversaw the youngest squad in the Bundesliga in the 2018-19 season, one with an average age of 23.5.

So the 63-year-old clearly favours the energy and malleable nature of youth, with younger players more able and willing to listen to new coaching ideas than their older counterparts.
Too old like CR7 cannot gegenpress the players.
Younger has more energy to run.
I think he will like Fred.

Carrick will manage Man Utd against Arsenal if Rangnick is unable to get his visa on time. If Carrick is able to get a win against Arsenal he should be the assistant manager to Rangnick.
Maybe end up next season MC will be the manager lol. Next season who manager RR got say one anyway. Actually who manager i don't care or mind, as long as can win games and always fighting for the top 2.

yup
I dun care if the next guy had managed Liverpool or City...
as long as I dun need to switch channel during a game. ( switch not due to the team being 4, 5 or 6-0 down... but due to the boring football being played)

Just watched the Keane & Carragher "heated" exchange.

it is just like those panel discussion in CNN or ABC news...
lots of mumbo jumbo... good for rating.

the MIO TV equivalent from PLTV will be the weekend review featuring Don "Who" Hutchinson and Dion "Who" Dublin plus a few others... just want to blah blah.

Manchester United interim boss Ralf Rangnick will earn more than his predecessor Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

United ousted their former player as manager after their 4-1 Premier League defeat to Watford, with Michael Carrick currently serving as caretaker.

Rangnick is set to take charge of the team as soon as his work visa in the UK is sorted.

According to the Daily Star, he will earn £8 million a year at United, slightly more than Solskjaer's salary.

Rangnick will serve as interim coach for six months, and then as an advisor for another two years.

It is understood that Rangnick does not meet the FA's criteria for a Governing Body Endorsement (GBE) because he has not managed a top-flight club in Europe for long enough in the last five years — either two years consecutively or three years cumulatively.

Although Rangnick twice took charge of RB Leipzig in the 2015-16 and 2018-19 seasons while also working as the club's director of football, that is not enough to qualify automatically for a GBE — as Antonio Conte did when taking over at Tottenham a month ago because of his recent stints at Inter Milan and Chelsea.

United sources argue that Rangnick has held other senior roles at RB Salzburg and Lokomotiv Moscow but, technically, he has not worked enough in this period as a manager.

His GBE will need to be approved by a three-man exceptions panel appointed by the FA, and chaired by a legal professional and two other figures with a background in football, before he can be granted a work permit by the Home Office.

Club sources have indicated Rangnick could be joined by a handful of staff members but United are not expecting any more imminent outgoings from the coaching department.

Lars Kornetka was described by Rangnick as ' the best video analyst we have in Germany' and joined the German at Lokomotiv Moscow earlier this year. Christian Mockel was appointed as Lokomotiv's head of scouting by Rangnick.

Roma coach Jose Mourinho is not giving up on signing Diogo Dalot from Manchester United.

Mourinho brought Dalot to Old Trafford from Porto back in 2018.

The Portuguese was sacked just six months after the transfer and Dalot struggled for minutes under his successor Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

After impressing on loan with AC Milan last season, Mourinho wants Dalot back in Serie A with Roma.

According to Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport, Giallorossi general manager Tiago Pinto is discussing a deal with the Red Devils to bring Dalot to the Italian capital.

Dalot is keen on a reunion with Mourinho, who views as a "mentor".
