Rangnick said United switched to a 4-3-3 formation with one holding midfielder - Nemanja Matic - at Aston Villa on Saturday and the interim manager said there were two unspecified positions Lingard could play in.

"For me, it's important always that we win the next game we are playing," Rangnick said. "It's also a question of formation, which is the best possible position for players.

"We have now decided to play a 4-3-3 like we did against Aston Villa, with one holding six, two eights and three offensive players.

Whether it is Pochettino or Ten Hag becoming Man Utd next manager these 2 often used the 4-3-3 formation. Man City & Liverpool used this 4-3-3 formation & these 2 teams have been in the top 4 most of the time during the past 8 yrs.

Very interesting development in the top 4. Man City & Liverpool definitely will be among the top 4.
Chelsea 3rd place, played 23 games with 44 points.
Looking ahead:
West Ham played 22 games with 37 points. If win 1 game will be 40 points.
Arsenal played 20 games with 35 points. If win 3 games will be 44 points. Same as Chelsea.
Tottenham played 18 games with 33 points. If win 5 games will be 48 points. 4 points more than Chelsea.
Man Utd played 20 games with 32 points. If win 3 games will be 41 points. 3 points behind Chelsea.

It will be very close if West Ham, Arsenal, Tottenham & Man Utd win all their postponed games to level with Chelsea on the number of games played. Chelsea may not get 3rd place at the end of the season. Can expect the battle for 3rd & 4th place to be very intense until end of the season. Those teams without European games will have an advantage as the players can rest for 1 week.

Tuchel may get sacked if Chelsea can't get into the top 4. He is already starting to give all sort of excuses for dropping points.

Jadon Sancho's failure to make an impact at Manchester United is all in his head, according to interim boss Ralf Rangnick.

Rangnick has no doubts over Sancho's ability, but suggested the 21-year-old is struggling with the weight of expectation now he is playing on a bigger, more demanding stage.

“It's a different league, a different competition, a more physical league,” said Rangnick.

“Now he's 21, playing for one of the biggest clubs in the world. I think it's also got to do with a lot of the things up here, in his head.

“But in training, whenever I see him train, he's showing up and one of the best players in the training sessions.

“Now it's about the transfer to when he's playing, showing the same kind of level and performance on the pitch.

Rangnick said there is only so much he and his coaching staff can do for Sancho, insisting it is down to the player himself to prove his worth.

Ralf Rangnick effectively confirmed Paul Pogba is leaving Manchester United – and said he will play him so he can get his dream move to Real Madrid.

Manchester United have pulled out of the bidding war for £50million-rated Monaco star Aurelien Tchouameni.

That is according to Football London, who claim that works as a major transfer boost for Chelsea.

Instead, United are prioritising other midfielders such as RB Leipzig’s Amadou Haidara and Borussia Monchengladbach’s Denis Zakaria.

Tchouameni has impressed in Ligue 1 and has been dubbed as N’Golo Kante's successor.
