Youri Tielemans is out of contract this summer and looks as though he will be available on a free transfer, with any extension appearing unlikely with Leicester City's fall from grace so far this season. The Belgian might not be at De Jong's level but he is a Premier League-proven quality, is still young at 25 and would bring the range of passing and confidence in possession that the Dutchman would. Not to mention a keener eye for goal and more versatility to boot.

United are well aware of Tielemans' qualities as he was on their radar when he made the permanent switch to Leicester in 2019. It was peculiar that they didn't make a move for him back then when he was just what they needed in midfield, and that remains the case.

Tielemans isn't the only interesting name that could be available for nothing in 2023, though. Houssem Aouar, Jorginho, this summer's brief target Adrien Rabiot and even Real Madrid legends Toni Kroos and Luka Modric (okay, they're both ageing now, but they retain quality) are all coming towards the end of their deals and could be interesting options.

United pulled a blinder by signing Eriksen for free this past summer and it's a tactic they should look to use again next year.

Manchester United fans have been expressing their delight after midfielder Scott McTominay produced an excellent performance for Scotland on Wednesday night.

The 25-year-old played the full 90 minutes as Steve Clarke's side brushed aside Ukraine 3-0 at Hampden Park. He operated in his usual role in central midfield, having previously been played as a centre-back in a back-three for his country.

McTominay was sharp in the tackle and put in an assured display as the Scots went top of their Nations League group after four games. The United star, who was making his 36th appearance for his country, has become a key player for Erik ten Hag's team this season.

At this moment McTominay is better than Declan Rice or Kevin Phillips. McTominay is running the midfield for Man Utd & Scotland. Declan Rice is unable to run the midfield for West Ham or England. West Ham will need to lower Declan Rice transfer fee of £100 million if West Ham ends up relegated end of this season.

Erik ten Hag has identified Jude Bellingham as the signing who can help return to the very top.

As a result, The Athletic claims the Dutchman is planning to go all out for Bellingham in 2023.

Next season transfer could be a repeat of this season transfer with Frenkie de Jong. If Jude Bellingham is going to be next season top signing it may take up most of Man Utd transfer time. Ferguson, Bryan Robson & Eric Cantona met Jude Bellingham & his parents at Carrington in 2020 to convince him to sign for Man Utd but still ended up failing to sign him.

Manchester United legend Bryan Robson has lifted the lid on a failed pursuit to sign Jude Bellingham in 2020.

Robson was part of United’s welcoming committee — set up to attract the player — but they were unsuccessful in their attempts to sign Bellingham.

“Unfortunately for us he decided to move to Germany. We thought we more or less had him,” Robson told The Sun. “Myself, Sir Alex and Eric Cantona all met him with his mum and dad at Carrington and after that meeting we thought he was coming to us.”

But ESPN say Maguire feels he has been let down by his team-mates and coaches, who have not played to his strength.

The defender feels he should be surrounded by more pace in the backline to help him, while the side’s tactics have often left him exposed.

But it’s claimed Maguire feels most ‘frustrated’ with goalkeeper De Gea.

The Spaniard has long been criticised for his reluctance to come off his line and that, coupled with Maguire’s lack of pace, has given opponents plenty of room to play in behind United’s defence.

Added to that, Maguire feels De Gea’s lack of communication has contributed to his poor form as the defence has lacked leadership from the back.

Martinez’s arrival from Ajax is said to have ‘eased’ De Gea’s communication problems as he can communicate with him in Spanish but the goalkeeper has been in England since 2011 and is in his 12th season at Old Trafford.

Tyrell Malacia has revealed Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag told him and new teammate Antony to ‘take it easy’ on each other after their previous battles in the Eredivisie.

The duo came up directly against each other last March with Ajax sealing a 3-2 win that helped steer them towards another Dutch title with Antony on the score sheet.

But Malacia’s tenacious performance kept the winger quiet for much of the contest with the two involved in a number of heavy challenges and flashpoints throughout the Klassieker.

The two collided again in injury time with Antony theatrically falling to the floor in front of the dugouts. After taking his time getting back to his feet, he was shown a second yellow card for time wasting, taking a swipe at Malacia as the full-back attempted to usher him off the pitch.

Now teammates in Manchester, Malacia and Antony are set to play key roles in ten Hag’s rebuild with the United boss warning the two to tone it down a touch on the training pitch.

Malacia told Sky Sports: ‘When he [Antony] arrived [at Manchester United] the first thing the coach said was ‘guys easy on each other’.

‘He’s [Antony] a good player and I love to play against him, and now I play with him which is fantastic.’

These 2 will clash again if Holland meets Brazil in the KO stage.

I am curious which country is going to make Maguire look like a clown during this World Cup. Any of these countries are capable. Germany, Holland, France, Spain, Portugal, Brazil, Argentina, maybe even USA & any countries with fast midfielders & strikers.

Maguire better don't be a clown in this World Cup because Southgate may lose his job as England manager after this World Cup.

Gareth Southgate is ready to put his reputation on the line in his support for Harry Maguire.

England boss Southgate said: “Whatever reputation I have I’m putting it on there. I think, look, you always have to back your judgement and we feel Harry is an important player.

“If we thought there were experienced players ready to step in and play at a level above him there would be a different consideration and in some positions there would be a different level of competition in that way.

"He is our most dominant aerial centre-back. He is an important player for us. I think it’s important to back our best players.”

Southgate thinks Maguire is the most dominant aerial centre back. Opponents will not use the high ball when playing against Maguire. They will dribble past him. :s13:
Maguire will be obsolete if opponents run with the ball & dribble against him. :s13:

The game is changing, even tall dominant strikers are quick and fleet footed now, ie Haaland.

Since we don't have a tall dominant striker, use him as one. Just can't play fast pace attacking/counter attacking football anymore.

Stick him up there and swing in the crosses. Lol.

Haaland can easily score 2 or 3 goals if Maguire played. If Maguire sees Haaland running with the ball. Before Maguire can react Haaland kicked the ball & scored. :s13:

Maguire reaction can be very slow because he often hesitate to decide whether to tackle or step aside when the opponent is running with the ball or dribbling the ball towards him.

Christian Eriksen has been named as Manchester United’s Player of the Month for September after a strong start to life at Old Trafford.

His strong showings have seen him win the Player of the Month for September as he recorded 62 per cent of the votes - seeing off competition from fellow nominees Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane to secure the accolade in only his second month of competitive action at Old Trafford.

more likely is Maguire is able to see Haaland because he is slowly jogging back to his half after scoring a goal.

Brazil very strong.
England boring & the players looking clueless. Southgate is the same as Solskjaer.

never liked what he says during interviews

Harry Maguire: "Obviously, the manager [Ten Hag] decided to leave me out for a game, and the team have been winning since."

Harry Maguire: "I went into the Euros after an eight-week injury, and did not play one game, and got into the team of the tournament."
