i spoke too soon

it's actually pretty stable now at 5GHz

I think some instability could be windows 10 build 1903 related.

Good good.

You guy should install a fan too.

Anybody can help to advice on how to setup port forwarding for this router. Intend to port forward the VPN IP instead of my own IP.

Sent from Xiaomi REDMI NOTE 8 using GAGT

Hi Guys,
Apologies if this has been asked before. I tried to search but I did not get any hit.

My question:
How can I implement filtering ( blocking ) for https sites for my AC87U router ?
It's mentioned in the Firewall section that https and website using compression technology cannot be filtered.
Is there a way around this ?
If not possible for this model, is there any newer model support https filtering ?
Your advice is truly appreciated.

Dear Thiamhui,

Please take note: If the firmware required hard reset and please do not use restore feature, due to some coding may change and it will cause the router unstable.

Best regard,
JK

Hi,

Is this model RT-AC87U totally dead? No more new firmware (e.g RT-AC68U) except once in a blue moon sky?

You have to have a 4*4 AC client, which is not cheap. For example, Asus has the PCE-AC88.

https://www.asus.com/sg/Networking/PCE-AC88/

But anyway, you can say RT-AC87U is a failed product from Asus due to the chipset used. It has probably never reached its full potential.

Another controversial Asus router is RT-AC88U, but at least some people like it very much even though some people have big issues with it. So RT-AC88U is not really a failed product like the RT-AC87U. And it at least supports AIMesh.
