Been a big fan of Misfit Shine (its 1st original metallic fitness tracker) since early 2013. Tried Jawbone & Fitbit, and eventually Misfit Shine was the one i liked and used for almost 18months.
Anyway, received the new Misfit Flash today from Amazon. Bought it during the Black Friday sales @ USD25 (original USD50).
Here's my few comments.
Pros:
1. Sharing the same aesthetics & features as the more costly Misfit Shine: Lightweight, waterproof, batt life lasts more than 2 months. Those are main reasons why i like the Misfit over any other fitness trackers. I hardly feel it there most of the time.
2. Unlike the Shine, which i have accidentally popped out the metallic disc couple of times as its easily dislodged. The new Misfit Flash solves this problem by having it inserted from the back of the strap. Problem solved.
Cons:
1. Plastic. Well .... i can't really complain about this considering its 1/2 price of the Shine. But I miss the metallic feel and the tapping action.
2. I can't seem to figure out how to disable the Auto-Sleep function. With the Shine, i always did it manually before i sleep. Well, i will continue to trial this Auto-sleep function for its accuracy.
3. Previously on the Shine, you could easily identify where the "12am/pm" LED indicator was. Now I had to trial and error with the Flash. The pic below explains what i mean.
Conclusion:
The Misfit Shine was my fav. And i like the new "cheaper" Flash a lot cos it does mainly the same thing. Tracks steps, sleep, exercises. Despite its tagged as a budget version of the Shine, it feels like an upgrade oddly.
However, do note that there are other budget fitness trackers out in market soon such as the Jawbone Move and the Xiaomi MiBand. But both of them do not tell time (which is one of my pull factors), and definitely do not look as cool.
