Hey guys I'm very interested in this but can I iron out some qns here?

Basically by using this would it affect my house cable tv signal? another question is how does the filter work in preventing my signal being tapped?

I'm dekitting my Actiontech MR424WR.

They have been configured into bridge mode. 4 switch port and Wifi can be turned on if you need additional coverage at a weak spot.

i have 3 pcs. Looking at 170$ for the whole kit. including 3 short pcs of coxial cable to patch into the SH point.

PM me if interested.

Anyone using the moca adaptors without the POE filters?
Without the POE filter, operating the moca above 1150mhz should prevent signal leakage to SH lines right?

How are you getting the actiontec adapters to work.
The specs say it works only >1GHz but all the splitter I see are <1GHz.
I tried with the existing <1GHz splitters but the adapter is unable to grab an IP address. It blinks and tries to do something and then goes off and this repeats on and on.

Can anyone confirm they can get the actiontec adapters to work? Did you change all the splitters to <2GHz?

For the actiontec device, the specs listed are:
Network Center Frequency Range 1150 ~ 1500 MHz
Network Frequency Range 1125 ~ 1525 MHz

Thanks

MoCA 2.0 adapters are supposedly to be just round the corner. The standard has been approved a few years back, but we haven't seen any 2.0 products. Earlier on this year though, we saw some chipset announcements, which would mean that we will be seeing retail 2.0 products very soon.

The MR424WR support VLAN as well!
I have a lot of new 10V DC adapters for MR424WR. PM me if interested.

I wanted to use Homeplug initially, but my ONT/Router is on the Yellow Phase, and my Living Room was Blue Phase! The only route is to go Moca.

I have been using 4 units of Moca 1.1 for the past 4 years able to achieve 90mbps. The Actiontec MR424WR support VLAN as well, serves me well as MioTV uses VLAN20 and Smart TV uses VLAN10.

this is how it goes:

SCV Main Inlet ==> 2 WAY Bi Spiltter (5mhz-2ghz) <==Moca Adapter<==Ethernet

2 WAY Bi Spiltter (5mhz-2ghz) ===> 8 WAY Spiltter (5mhz-2ghz)

8 WAY Spiltter (5mhz-2ghz) ===>HALL/ROOM/STUDY Wall coaxial outlet

HALL Coaxial Outlet ===> 2 WAY Bi Spiltter (5mhz-2ghz)

Ethernet <== Moca Adapter <== 2 WAY Bi Spiltter (5mhz-2ghz) ===> SetTopBox ==> TV

It has a total of 8 Channels of frequencies with security password protect.
No way the signals going to leak out to Starhub, anyway their incoming signal is way stronger.

Actiontec ECB6000

I have been reading a lot about MoCA network adapters, decided to give a try. Bought a pair of ECB6000, Actiontec's latest model from US through a friend (lately found that Amazon also ships these to SG for free).

Hooking up was super easy, and the result is amazing. I used to get 50-60Mbps through home plugs on my 300 fiber broadband, now I get 299-301Mbps consistently.

Problem: While internet is super fast, but SCV signal got interference. I am unable to watch SCV now using the same Coax point with 2ghz splitter provided by Actiontec. The picture keeps breaking up. I mentioned the same Coax point because my room SCV signal is still perfect, but the one connected to the adapter is in the living room and is the one having problem. I am not sure what is the root cause, has anyone encountered the same? Or has anyone got the solution?

thanks.

Try asking in smallnetbuilder forum. More users there but US not SG.

Are you using the HD set top box from SH too? i wonder what is causing the interference on my SCV. :s11:

No one can troubleshoot your moca without u drawing out the moca network diagram. Include the type of spilters or mixer and rg59 cables in your diagram to aid troubleshooting.

STB uses below 1ghz. Moca is > 1ghz...so I don't see how complicated it can be..likely wrong application of equipment.

I have 4 moca 1.1 100mbps boxes in my coaxial LAN backbone, all are doing well. I can get speedtest 99.8mbps on the 100mbps ethernet ports and 50mbps on the wireless g interface. Going to deploy 2 moca 1.1 1gbps boxes to see if it goes up to 170mbps.

Would US cable TV has the same signal frequency (not sure if there is any difference, as i am not a techie in this area) as SH SCV?

Cable TV usually below 1ghz. Satellite is above 1ghz. Check out your main spilter and u will get the answer.
