Pap will not sit still.Seems they found another way to block opposition is by increasing the number of elected candidates making harder for them to find quality candidates.

GMS is returning in 2030 for sure.
Not sure about PSP if they can survive.
SDP should be shaken.
Dunno how many will walk with CSJ again.
Dunno about the rest.
No response from Ravi of RDU yet.
The rest may do it if they can find sugar daddy again.

I guess the number of parties may decrease in 2030.

They should not give up. They can contribute their deposits indirectly to govt. They can still be useful like that. :o

Actually some of them are just people who did not make an impact. They want to make changes but they did not provoke or make any headlines that's all.

Too bad we don’t have MSGAP (make Singapore great again party). It would probably win or get 49.90% votes for the meme.

To honest I don’t mind being Bui bui, dye my hair gold, say dumb things and talk like something is constricting my throat.
Already got PPP "Make Singapore Home Again", luckily voters didn't fall for GMS crap lol

Mosquitoes parties should disband…just have more walkovers

WP can’t contest many seats

Voters expect oppo candidates to be very high calibre before voting for them
Not so for ruling party - many newbies who don’t seem to be better than WP candidates got in
Yah the double standard... Miw candidate standard can be lower. But opp candidate have to be superb.

The 2 independent candidates got 28% and 38%, so this refutes your saying that voters have double standards towards opposition. As long as they are credible oppositions, I think Sg voters are more than willing to vote for oppositions. But not those oppose for opposing

It should send a signal to ruling party and all the other opposition parties...

They (Tampines GRC) are just waiting for a reliable opposition party. Imagine NSP having nearly 40% last time to 0% this time.

Yes. So tampines is quite aligned to the indicator of the national average

In the previous GE2020, NSP gotten around 40% of the votes. PAP gotten around 60%. Those 40% who voted for NSP would vote for a CMI party then to vote for PAP.

There will be a silent group of 20-30% who will be the swing votes. Usually average of 60% of this group going for status quo in the current GRC unless the screw up happens. (So using SK as example, the silent group just go with the flow of going back to WP)

So from here we can largely assume that in PAP strongholds, there is around 20-30% who will never vote for PAP. Whereas in weaker GRCs the number can go as high as 40% like tampines, punggol etc.

So just need to watch the silent group and see how much it swings, plus this silent group are generally indifferent to national events and just only focus on municipal issues which affects them most.

We need at least 1 more credible opposition is for leveraging effect of alternative voices. The pace that workers party wants to get the seat now is tad too slow such that pap could easily implement even more rules to curb the growth.
But it seems sinkies not keen on alternative voice, so shall it be then

Experts, need your opinion here.

Does this theory holds?

Given the thrashing by these mosquitoes opposition parties.
Which then contribute to the increase in vote percentage of the ruling party.

Would walkover actually end up pulling down the ruling party’s vote share?

Since number of seats in Parliament is not a direct co-relation to vote share.

Plus, it’s a confirmed ruling party will get 2/3 of the seat in Parliament, so no point contesting all seats. Just focus on the few areas to contest instead.

If we just go by the percentage from WP and even SDP, probably the overall percentage win for the ruling party may not even crossed 60% right?

I hope more good quality candidates step forward to run in the future.

Good quality must be in the form of qualified, got education, got experience, and must have good heart to serve the nation. Must be down to earth type, understand the needs and frustration of the day to day man.

Sorry guys, I confirm cannot run… later all my foes come out all my unpleasant language chat history.
