New MVNO player in Singapore - CUniq (China Unicom)
Using Starhub's network in SIngapore.

Another option for those that visit China frequently.
Offerings are pretty similar to CMLink (China Mobile), with data usage shared across Singapore, China & Hong Kong.

[Update - 01 Sept 2024]
Works well for the eSIM & physical SIM.

There's a "CUniq app" in both App Store & Play Store, which is basically a web version in an app.
Seamless connectivity once landed in China, as compared to CMLink where "International Roaming" has to be toggled on backend in the website by one self so as to ensure that roaming is availble after reaching China. CUniq roaming works fine without much tinkering and only requires device's roaming setting to be turned on.

Connection & speed is great, haven't face any issues. Even though its supposedly 4G only connectivity in China, occasionally got connected to 5G in China, and receiving similar speeds (100 - 200mbps one can get from 5G while in SG.
Of course expectations need to be managed since roaming will not be prioritised as compared to locals.
So in extremely busy areas will face minor drop in connections/"Airplane mode". Connectivity stability is also dependent on location.
- Outdoor no issues apart from what was shared earlier
- Indoors e.g. hotel that I was in had patchy network, might possibly be because of it being on the high floors of the hotel as with similar experience in SG.
Advice by CS that users facing issues with connectivity, to manually select network operator if auto detection fails.

Usage tracking requires "binding of number" in the CUniq portal (OTP verification), then heading to "My Account" to view usage
.
Only face issues during the binding of one of my phone number as OTP could not be received/OTP got stuck and I was already in China. CUniq CS assisted to check and in the end had to resort to backend (BE) binding to enable usage tracking by me.

For change of plan, as of now the understanding that I got from CS is that it can only be done manually by contacting CUniq CS, which as compared to CMLink where it can be done through the CMLink portal, this is a lacking feature. So those that needs a change of plan, need to contact CS earlier than say the last day so that the change of plan can be reflected in the first day of the following month similar to how CMLink's change of plan works.

Customer support is available through WhatsApp, phone calls & email during office hours (0830 - 1800) , and response is pretty quick. Issues get resolved timely too with standard necessary investigation time required.

Only annoyance as of now is that seems like there is no credit card deduction method (whole amount deductions) and had to top up, which causes balance in the "wallet", will check with CS how to go about this.
[Oct 2024] Able to top up odd amount for payment to balance out the wallet, but still no card binding/payment automation available.

TLDR; in summary, works well and with eSIM option availabe as compared to the other option - CMLink, I would prefer CUniq more with the eSIM offering available.. Not much difference in connectivity during roaming in China for those comparing between CUniq (China Unicom) and CMLink (China Mobile).

The eSIM is quite an advantage her and it's StarHub which is the better network compared to Singtel.

waited too long for the eSIM from CMLink (ST).

but CM has better network coverage than Unicom in China.

good to have 1GB monthly for MIT usage.

so no best solution for now.

Would rather take up CMlink as coverage in PRC well exceeds China Unicom by a mile least 🤣

I have been using it for the past few days (though not in China). StarHub 5G is quite non-existent... and even if there is 5G, the speed is like 4G. Might as well just grab the 4G plans... (for those who wanna try CUniq). Good thing is they have CS and they pick up the call and reply almost immediately.

Like because the provider from CUniq is 5G NSA.

As for binding of a China number, what information do you have to provide?
