I want to visit some people in Myanmar.

Apparentlyz we CAN go to mynamar now but my Myanmar friends tell me it is dangerous because the civil war is not over AND travel insurance might not cover it cos of the civil war.

Any thoughts?

If you can't afford travel insurance, you can't afford to travel.

In this case, if you confirmed that travel insurance doesn't cover, then unless absolutely necessary, might not be too wise to go?

Also look at MFA or US State department travel alert.

Elections are planned for August. Passports issuances are suspended.

At your own risk.

"International commercial flights to and from Myanmar have resumed since 17 April 2022. From 1 Sep 2022, all Singapore ordinary passport holders will not require a tourist visa to enter Myanmar for a period of up to 30 days. Singapore passport holders can enter and depart from all international checkpoints (i.e. Yangon, Mandalay and Naypyidaw). However, travellers to Myanmar should note MFA’s existing travel advisory recommending against all travel to Myanmar at this time."

Yes, that is why I am holding back. At the rate things are going, dunno whether I will ever meet my friends again. Cos they cannot come out of Myanmar. I mean they could pre COVID. But post COVID post coup the world is upside down now for them

If you make up your mind to visit, you ought to follow the full MFA advisory to the letter, other than traveling against their recommendation. ie Stick to a city, make it a short visit, avoid crowds, stay in contact with MFA etc.
