yea a bit shock, will got another few months to try out before the contacts end. will see is there any changes after taken over by starhub. a bit worried. as i got bad experience on their boardband.

after had a chat with the support it seems MB will become a subsidiary of starhub, it will still operate individually. everything remain the same.

But for those who have China VPN like Transocks, you can try out that as well. Here is the ping value using AJS VPN.

Wow the vpn makes alot of difference.

You can subscribe to Starhub TV+ regardless of the ISP you are using. Only difference is that you do not have MediaCorp FTA channels if you are not using Starhub Fibre Internet. But you can always install meWatch on the Starhub TV+ box.

anyone faces slow load on China websites (e.g. Taobao)? noticed it only happens on web and not on app.

I am still facing this problem. Has this been resolved by MR or am I the only one still facing the issue?

Definitely MR. I try using vpn with China server and browsing was an ease.

Quite some people using Viewquest have problem with item.taobao.com (web version). There are also reports from MyRepublic users. I am using Singtel and occassionally item.taobao.com is also slow (ping test shows loss of packets). But we do not really use the web version -- we use mobile version and no issues at all.

Can you try to access taobao during evenings like 7, 8pm? Those china sites load very slow for me from like 6pm till midnight during weekdays. Weekends whole day very slow.

MyRepublic does not issue public IP rite? if I did not request for public IP (static), does it work for most security camera without extra configuration? for example, remote viewing of the live stream from Internet?

Why do you think otherwise? That's how VPNs work, redirect traffic through their own servers.

If the slowness is caused by certain routes or servers, using VPN may solve the issue but unable to pinpoint/isolate is ISP problem.

There are users from other ISPs also feedback that they experienced slow loading of taobao item page in other ISP threads.
