What is the difference between DS213 & DS213J? Looking at the price from PC show 2013 DS213J is $269. Comex 2013 also $269. Like no depreciate at all.. Looking for better deal.

213 n 213j main diff is the cpu spec...213j is quite new...usually til there is new series come out then there will b drop in price...anyway rrp for 213j is abt 368...269 is consider quite cheap already...

Been out of touch for a long time, which would be a better buy, the 1512 or 1513+? 100bux difference

Also saw 1812+ 8 bay also same price as 1513 at $1199! Wa which one to get

noted memory world one no free ram upgrade to 4gb but buy from other booth got free ram upgrade.

Lastly the WD red 2tb or 3tb is more stable?

Thx

If you are using traditional RAID5, then u need to upgrade the whole array to larger disk before you can expand your array.

If your are using SHR, you can add at least 2 larger disk and have RAID1 for the extra space.
But doing so is not RAID5, SHR is a mixture of RAIDs on the partitions.

What do you need it for?
1. Converting desktop to M-ITX/M-ATX
2. Storage/backup of pictures and videos
3. Streaming of HD video to anywhere within my house
4. Centralised server for content extraction

For RAID5, I believe you have to upgrade all 5.

This article explains it:

Got poisoned by the article
Now considering getting a NAS too :D

For storage and backup, is a 2 bay NAS as useful?
Or should go for at least 4 bay?
