NAS die faster than HDD :s13::s13:
.
In my case, my ds414 power brick got issue just 3 months after purchase. EA replaced the power brick on spot and unit worked fine still I sold it end 2017.

Best to have local warranty for NAS.

My nas is now back up and running. It was the power adapter that blew. Good thing it's still under warranty so brought the damaged adapter for a 1 for 1 exchange. Currently using an adpater i bought online. The one exchanged under warranty shall be a spare one.

Just got myself a DS418.
Dealer informed to register warranty online with Synology.
RMA will be back to dealer who will assist RMA to Synology (distributor?).
I've registered an account with Synology and device however it doesn't say it's an actual warranty registration. It doesn't even ask for my purchase info.

Anyone here actually registered their NAS' warranty online?

Can advise how to best set up the Synology NAS for external access?

1)
I'm having trouble accessing some services externally, in particular the Drive web-app (desktop client seems to work fine).

On the router, manually forward every single relevant port or just set as DMZ?

2)
If I have my own domain name, how do I point it to the NAS?

Thanks a lot!

1. Your choice on dmZ or manually set

2. Your domain should have an option to configure the IP address in. Alternatively u can map it via ddns.

You can register on synology website. Local is keep receipt.
https://www.synology.com/en-global/knowledgebase/DSM/tutorial/Service_Application/How_do_I_register_my_extended_warranty

Even you register, you still need to keep your receipt.

The current RMA for me, they never ask receipt from me.. I RMA via Taiwan since my warranty is expiry.

I do think they know.. Lol.
Because @ the portal there seen to be had connection if your ds is up.

That's it? So no actual online warranty registration.

Anyone with Xiaomi Mi Home IP camera and able to store to the NAS?
I am thinking to buy a NAS if the IP camera could connect to NAS.

Refer to this list for supported IP cameras.

Thanks, I will go play around with it. First time owning a domain name :s13:
Entirely depends on a couple of things:
1) Static IP or not? If not, you can use Synology's dynamic DNS. You then need to set up an A name or CNAME on your domain host to point accordingly.
2) Using https? Suggested to do so if you want to expose your NAS to the net.
3) Which apps do you want to access on your NAS? Different apps require different ports and it is recommended to only open the ports you need rather than everything.
