The government has also introduced 10 weeks of shared parental leave, with six weeks available this year and an additional four weeks next year. She said that employers may need time to adjust to these provisions.

“That’s quite a lot for the employers to deal with,” the minister said. “I think it’s important to let the employers run in the shared parental leave first, and then maybe we can consider and look at whether any additional leave is necessary.”

There is no need to bully her as a single.
She is just reading out her script.
The policy is not concrete.
Maybe the next replacement will have a change of heart.

no pay leave. parents need to decide which is more important.

parent leave alot already. any more might as well fire the person and hire someone else.

people are asking for too much. worse is most abuse such leave.

many consume such leave as entitlement. regardless kid sick or not..

then add in MCs and leave .. half a year no need to work..then expect to be promoted and ranked exceed expectations.

humans are amazing , demanding.

in the past , many of us came out fine. this is just entitlement, woke , demanding ridiculous stuff for pure selfish reasons. and you expect a company to pay your salary ? the scheme should be half pay then no pay past xx weeks.. the choice is up to parents. which is more important in their lives.

Thought all employees have annual leave? so cannot use annual leave to care for child?

Parental leave should be atleast 6 months, or even better, 9 months

it would be much easier for employers to find contract staff

i myself find it very difficult to find temp staff to cover those on parental leave, because its such a short stint, while the remaining team would complain secretly on the additional work load

Damn, such entitled parents. Those who don't have children should not be covering the workloads of these parents.
It's a catch 22 situation.

On one hand, people complain about low TFR, so need these kind of policies to be more understanding to parents and their kids. Work life balance, emergencies and such.

On the other hand, always take leave, pregnant = gg, need to cover their work for months and then they stack maternity leave + annual leave, go find job during leave then come back and throw letter.
A lot of people super allergic to pregnant colleagues, especially in a certain T-named Singapore company where the fengshui is damn good. All the ladies keep getting pregnant there, one after another.

This forever alone spinster being in charge of this is a joke.
