On the article the poster also mentioned that some ports on the switch also died. Reddit users and TP-LINK community also has this issue of dead ports without fan modification. Could be quality issue with the switch

So many buyers want fanless 10G switches. :s22:

The TP-LINK TL-SX105 5-Port 10G Desktop Switch is fanless and unmanaged

Generally, those switch with 8 ports and above for unmanaged switch, PoE switch and those managed switch come with fan(s)

oh. But the app doesnt allow me to do that. The only ones i can enable/disable is the MLO network. Not the 2.4/5 GHz or the 6 GHz

Specifically, here are how you can use its three bands per my real-world experience:

  1. A main SSID(network name) for the 2.4GHz and 5GHz band via Smart Connect. A couple of things to note about this network:
    • You can't separate these bands in two SSIDs, but you can turn either off, making the network exclusively 2.4GHz or 5GHz.
    • There is an option to make the 5GHz band operate in 80MHz, 160MHz (default), or the new 240MHz channel widths.
  2. A second SSID for the 6GHz band -- automatically takes the main SSID's name and adds the "-6GHz" suffix. You can change this name to anything you want, including the same as the main SSID. (This is new since the Deco XE200 doesn't allow the 6GHz to share the same SSID name as the others.)
  3. An optional third SSID with Wi-Fi 7's Multi-Link Operation(MLO) feature. This SSID automatically has the "_MLO" suffix, but you can also name it to your liking. A couple of things to note:
    • This SSID uses all three bands by default, but you can turn the 2.4GHz off to include only the 5GHz and 6GHz bands.
    • Wi-Fi 7 clients can connect to this SSID using two bands simultaneously to increase the bandwidth(*). Wi-Fi 6 devices can only use one band at a time.
    • This SSID only supports WPA3 encryption, which generally doesn't work with Wi-Fi 5 and older clients.
Unquote

From what I read you can have 3 individual band and so can test each as well.

my ST 10gb only getting 5+gbps despite flat or round cat 7 ethernet cable

5Gbps+ for a 10Gbps bb seems low.

Is the port on your PC a 10Gbps port? You have a 10Gbps NIC card in the PC?

If you are using a laptop what 10Gbps adapter are you using? Make sure it connects into a thunderbolt 3/4 port on the laptop

Disable any desktop VPN, software firewall, anti virus, Adguard for desktop. Use OOKLA SpeedTest app for Windows.

PC attached to the 10G port of the ONR?

OOkla SpeedTest app? SingTel SpeedTest server?

PC's spec: CPU, SSD, 10G network card?

XGSPON -> HB810 (BE22000) -> PC

Pc AMD 5600X
Ssd WD 950
Tplink tx401 10gbe pcie

Should I hook up to the onr to test ?

Use the speedtest app on desktop ah ? I never use any additional antivirus only the windows defender.
I'll try to disable it when I get back home from dinner.

I posted my specs already

Yes, try to connect directly to the ONR and test again.

And make sure you use SpeedTest app and not browser.
yes, can find in microsoft store.

Oh wow using the speedtest.net app on desktop can go up to 8gbps plus on direct onr to PC. Router to PC is high 7plus sometimes bump to 8+. Ok good enough for tonight, tomorrow try to meddle more

**Edit**

Using speed test app to test is fast but we are not using the app to surf the internet so most important is browser speed. Better feedback to microsoft edge.

Your answer makes no sense.

The aim of the test is to check the speed limit to see if the Fibre service is provisioned correctly by the ISP or not.

As of now, the consensus is that the XGS-PON ONT/ONR will limit the maximum bandwidth to be around 8.2Gbbps.

So if your wired SpeedTest result shows close to this speed then all is good. If not then you may want to check what is going wrong.

Yes i understand the limit. Some time i can get 8.5Gbps. Nothing wrong with ISP but the speed will go up and down. Sometime as low as 4 Gbps. My concern is whether the speed is the same when using microsoft edge to surf the internet. Is it microsoft edge can not support full speed of 8Gbps? I am not sure.

The Browser adds extra constraints to achieve the higher speed. It is not only Microsoft Edge, same for Chrome and Firefox.

SpeedTest for 10G service is tricky, you do not want the browser to give you false alarm.

"browser to give you false alarm." referring to browser giving user false speed test result?
