You can still activate a SIM card lock if you have an eSIM. Even if you have a SIM card lock on a physical SIM, anyone can remove it and work on unlocking the SIM on another device. An eSIM is more secure because it can't be removed from your phone, so it's harder to unlock it without the SIM PIN. The above security works if the scammer is targeting the user phone directly.

In this case the scammer go through the provider who overrides the phone's security settings by providing the necessary info to the scammer to unlock the phone

How does this scam work? 🤔

The criminals have access to your information, either through phishing or insider leaks. Then use those info
to convince telcos and take over your profile.

Much harder to pull off such scams in sinkieland, since singpass is kinda required to register for local sims.

Personally, I don't think SIM swapping will be a major issue in our state, unless singpass is greatly compromised. Singpass is so bloody crucial to our security; if it ever fails, it will dwarf all other scandals.

Once the scammer convinced the telco to release your personal info there's nothing one can do about it

Maybe in other countries. But in Singapore, scammers will still need access to your singpass to do a SIM swap. Singpass is basically Sinkies' first and last line of defense against malicious actors.

actually sg likely won't happen.
you can't just call to change. got verification and such.

somemore now most use singpass do things. therefore it is way safer than USA.

each country got their ways of doing things and culture. doubt this will work in sg at all.

how to call in to get Telco issue another esim and install into another cell? then log in how ? most use singpass or user id and password..

the data isn't even ported over.

Poco 7 coming out. Poco 8 sure not below 400 wor.

Current models not worth my upgrade especially the battery part .
My phones can easily last 2-3 years before changing.
I usually wait for sales time like 6.6 , 11.11 to buy .

Price usually is ~ 400sgd after discount. I guess I can increase to 500sgd budget due to increase inflation rated .
