Hi there,

Although most schools stop practicing this as extra 6 months to a year more of untrained contract stint could delay your promotion in the later years when you start your actual teaching stint. However, at your end, it is likely not possible to change this practice at your school if your school leaders believe in this practice. Let's have a growth mindset, I would say that take this chance to experience a full year in school to see if you are able to handle the responsibilities as a teacher while clocking experiences that would helpful when you become a actual teacher. In the some cases, I do know of people who quit after the six month stint as they realized that teaching in main stream school is not for them.

Lol same! I also emailed them 2 weeks ago to seek updates. I guess they are overwhelmed....? But at the same time I hope HR empathizes with our anxiety lol. So glad I accepted another offer in Jan instead of sitting around like an anxious duck for so many months.

Was in NIE last year. Most of my lessons were f2f unless there are heighted alert.
Timetable can be quite packed as there are many modules per semester (I had 25h of lessons in a week)

Hi Snowies and Chrispy, I have an update. HR replied me and said that they had reviewed my application and my earliest Assumption of Duty date has been pushed back to 19 Dec 2022.

Imagine if I did not email them... Wonder if I would have been left hanging for another 6 months hahaha.

Anyway I am rather disappointed because the window I applied for (Jan - Feb) clearly stated that the AOD is in July 2022 (for Untrained) and Dec 2022 (for NIE). Now that my AOD is pushed back to Dec 2022, this implies that my Untrained stint will be 1 year long and I can only enrol in NIE in Dec 2023.

I have no idea what to feel anymore.

oh no you emailed them again? or they replied your only email? at least they replied you! I'm left hanging now.. I think it's because the previous batches also experienced a delay. so ours were pushed back.

Oh dang! When I emailed them at the end of April they said that they were still processing and that the process doesn’t occur simultaneously. I was hoping they’d send an email out to inform us about this.
