All the while FAM does not disclose information on ancestry of these players, such as the names of grandparents.

Compare it to Indonesia, who reveal the date and location of birth of the grandparents for each heritage player. They even release photos of the grandparents.

But Malaysia only said FIFA already approved the relevant documents, so there is no problem. Most of the heritage players also do not reveal or disclose their supposed lineage to the public.

No wonder other nations start to suspect them!

🇲🇾 BREAKING NEWS ⚽🇲🇾🔴🔵😳

As reported by Instagram palatao_bola, Filipino supporters are demanding that Johor Darul Ta'zim provide proof that four of their players hold Philippine passports. This is because JDT has registered these four players as Filipino in both the Liga and ACLE. They include:

🇪🇸🇵🇭 Antonio Glauder
🇫🇷🇵🇭 Enzo Lombardo
🇪🇸🇵🇭 Oscar Arribas
🇪🇸🇵🇭 Teto Martin

The first three names are registered as Filipino players in the Malaysian Super League, while Teto Martin is registered in the ACLE.

FYI! The foreign player regulation in the 2025/26 Malaysian Super League is 4+1+1 (4 foreign free agents + 1 Asian + 1 ASEAN). JDT recruited numerous players with Philippine passports so they could play them as free agents and Asian players, meaning they could field six foreign players in a single League match.

However, following the document forgery case involving seven Malaysian naturalized players, the case expanded to the four players mentioned above. Interestingly, despite the quality of these four players, none of them were ever called up to the Philippine national team.

(*) UPDATE: Oscar Arribas was called up by the Philippines for the 2022 ASEAN Cup but never played or was included in the DSP.

❌ 7 MALAYSIA PLAYERS BANNED FOR 1 YEAR OVER NATURALISATION SCANDAL

FIFA has issued a 12-month suspension to seven Malaysia players involved in the nationality forgery case:

🔻Gabriel Felipe Arrocha (Unionistas 🇪🇸)
🔻Facundo Tomás Garcés (Deportivo Alavés 🇪🇸)
🔻Rodrigo Julián Holgado (América de Cali 🇨🇴)
🔻Imanol Javier Machuca (Atlético Vélez Sarsfield 🇦🇷 )
🔻João Vitor Brandão Figueiredo (Johor Darul Ta’zim 🇲🇾)
🔻Jon Irazábal Iraurgui (Johor Darul Ta’zim 🇲🇾)
🔻Hector Alejandro Hevel Serrano (Johor Darul Ta’zim 🇲🇾)

⚖️ The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) was also fined USD 438,000.

This heavy sanction hits Johor Darul Ta’zim the hardest with three players suspended.

👉 Moreover, AFC is set to annul Malaysia’s 2027 AFC Asian Cup Qualifier result vs Vietnam, which could officially be awarded as a 3-0 win for Vietnam.

Wah, fine US 438K! RM1.5M! Kao lat man.

It is learnt that the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) had lodged a report on the players after Malaysia thrashed them 4-0 in the 2026 Asian Cup third-round qualifiers in Kuala Lumpur on June 10.

The report was made a day after the game and FIFA investigated the matter for months before coming up with the sanction statement on Sept 26.

According to sources close to the world body, full details on the matter could be made public on their website in the next day or two

1️⃣
RESPONSIBILITY FOR PLAYER ELIGIBILITY
FAM’s stance:
FIFA had approved the eligibility of the seven players — therefore, the responsibility should lie with FIFA, which validated their status for national team matches.
🟥
FIFA’s response:
FIFA clarified that it never “approved” their eligibility outright — its correspondence only stated the players “appeared to be eligible” based on documents provided by FAM.
-> Therefore, FAM bears full responsibility for the accuracy and authenticity of all submitted documentation.
FIFA only launched its investigation after receiving a formal complaint questioning those documents.
2️⃣
BIRTH CERTIFICATE ISSUE
FAM’s stance:
The original birth certificates of the players’ grandparents couldn’t be found — hence, Malaysia’s National Registration Department (NRD) reissued them according to Malaysian constitutional procedures.
🟥
FIFA’s response:
FIFA obtained the original foreign birth certificates from Argentina, Brazil, and Spain without difficulty — proving that the grandparents were not born in Malaysia, contrary to what the documents filed by FAM claimed.
Even FAM’s own evidence from the NRD confirmed that Malaysia never had the originals and issued replacements based on secondary or foreign documents.
3️⃣
DEGREE OF VIOLATION
FAM’s stance:
Even if there was a procedural mistake, it was only a technical or administrative issue, with no intent to cheat and no sporting advantage gained. Both FAM and the players acted in good faith.
🟥
FIFA’s response:
FIFA rejected this argument, calling it a serious falsification — not a mere technicality.
4️⃣
SANCTIONS & APPEAL
FAM’s stance:
Requested FIFA to avoid or reduce punishment, ideally limiting it to a financial fine.
🟥
FIFA’s response:
Cited Article 22 of the 2025 FIFA Disciplinary Code, confirming its full authority to impose penalties, including suspensions, point deductions, or bans.
