Okay...ADA, the expensive stuffs. Amano Takashi basically is the takumi when we talking about ADA Aquarium setup. Most of the time, he would dive into streams of specific places such as those in Japan, in Amazon etc. Here, you look at those small ADA bottles which can be anywhere from $30 to $60. So ADA is consider high end setup.

I want you all to observe how he put the substrate, the side are usually not covered. Fish poo usually gathers at the side, so most algae growth starts from the side of the tank.

Bacteria Colony, now in the beginning, when you add bacteria powder, whatever brand you chose, you put more. Once established, unless there is a huge loss of water and replacement, then you do minute adding.

If Amano was there, he would insist that the front of fauna be totally straight. Japanese have certain attitude when it comes to absolutely being right.

In this setup you see misting cultivation instead of flooding cultivation method. The tank would be cover with clean wrap on top to avoid evaporation, thus keeping the tank moist. For this, filter are not added yet.

Okay, this next tank is Neocaridina shrimp tank setup. (Not cardinal tetra, spelling different). Neocaridina is a family name. Product name is Dennerle.

Please watch how he tie the plants.

In Western country, they encourage the use of saucer plate. First use hand hold the saucer plate then submerged. Then pour water aiming at the saucer plate. This way, water adding, you don't disturb the fauna. I find that quite useful.

Another way to do it is simply putting a stone array, when adding water, aim at the array. Of course you mustn't pour too fast.

Pipes are more for lobster but I guess it is owner's preference. Hee Hee.

Exposure ba. The more you get exposed to different type of setup, the more you becomes better.

As I said before, the skills involved are pretty diverse. Like tank setup already we are looking at a few school of theory here. The more tank you set up different, the better you get at setting up. Then fish choosing is one, fish mixing is another. Choose fish liao, must choose plants. Choose plants liao you have to decide what kind of fauna you are creating, slope or mountain or driftwood face or rock/stone face. Even the selection of soil, what kind of environment you wish to create etc.

We haven't come to the water chemistry yet.

My tank is recovering but due to the recent incident of overfeeding, but the snails population bloom together with algae. I saw Ramshorn and bladder snails. Caught 4 or 5 babies daily. Today saw a full size bladder and a smaller one but matured already.

I'm thinking of getting assassin snails. Will 1 do in a 180L tank, abt 50gallon. Bcos I dun want the assassin to breed if I get a pair or more.

Read that yoyo loach is also good but need to be in groups. My tank still has space but the ground already occupied by 4 Corys and brlstle nose pleco and a gold balloon ram. The bristlenose is doing a good job cleaning up the algae now too.

Is 1 assassin snail enough to do the job? Any other ideas to get rid of the snails besides assassin snails?

Use hand and pincer. Slowly pick out.

Use green cloth to wash the glass. If you see white little spot, those are eggs.

If you want to do thorough one, then fish and plants have to migrate and treated separately. The entire soil bed will need to wash in hot water. Plants gets a heavy metal bath. Meaning the entire tank will go through a makeover.

Wow... I dun wanna go thru all these again so fast. Few weeks back I went for holiday and my dad poured 3/4 fish feed. When I came back almost all fish died. Eventually only 2 corys are survivor.

The ammonia spiked for days and thanks to the ppl here. I managed to get it under control. Now just restocked my fish and found the snails crawling.

I think I need to accept them in my tank but to control their population. my tank, 2 corys and I not ready to go thru another overhaul so fast. Haha.

Do your maintenance ba.

Use this one to go into the sand. but bend the tube so that you can control slowly.

Filter must wash thoroughly. Water if need to, go for 50% change.

Measure tank first. Too strong a light means algae, there are some 10k 12k lighting there. Have to be careful not to be tempted.

also take note of the duration of lights on. shouldn't be more than 8hrs continuously.

Split timing. 2hr - 4hr. Meaning keeping your light up time 6hrs. 8hrs is in the wild.

It's more convenient for me to DIY a Co2 reactor because i can buy the ingredient(3kg Sugar $3-$4) whenever i'm free and it's cheap to make another Co2 reactor($0.60 for the bottle). $0.80(Sugar and yeast) last for 14days, $19.2 per yrs?

Canister with a timer every 4-6 month i need to go topup(I only can make it during the Sunday), expensive to buy canister(2ndhand 2l $50-$200+ with regulator/controller) if i want to have more tanks it gonna burn my wallet. $14-$17 2L last for about 4-6 month and transport (depend on area) so $40 per yrs?

So i still prefer DIY Co2 reactor.
