some of the posting in home forum are quite insightful to read
Just another form of social interaction, albeit with strangers we only know by username.

Forums are also good for like-minded folks like us to share views and opinions. For instance, not all my IRL friends are into property.

I find HWZ quite a nice place to learn from one another too. The crowd here is quite diverse and willing to share alternative views on a lot of topics, which one may find it hard to gather if they were to stick within their own social circles.

Regarding 'prestige of address', it always makes me think of how some of my overseas HR colleagues are required to do an analysis of sorts on potential candidates' home areas, sometimes even checking out the area in person and taking photos and videos !

E.g. A candidate's address in Khlong Toey, Bangkok, might raise red flags when applying for a supplier-facing job. The hirers might think this person could face money issues due to living in a poor neighbourhood, and be tempted to take bribes.
I agree.

Another perspective is that companies want to leverage on the parents' knowledge and network when hiring too, especially if it's an intern or fresh grad. They would be able to tap on someone who is relatively senior (in order to afford that property) such as their parents for exclusive/deeper insights, which means they hire 1 person but get 3 brains in return. Other times, it could be for reasons as simple as expanding direct network and relationships.

This is very true in the medical, legal and banking industries

Only include if it's prestigious I guess? It shows your network of leverage.

I got my an editor to help me write a professional CV. She recommends to put residential address inside so just I did. Then some of my HR friends are talking about how residential addresses can help to stand out your CV among many others.

Some times it is just like you put additional skills in your CV at the end, it may not necessary be relevant to your job but HR/Hiring Manager may think otherwise. So why not?

Anyway, diverting from your intended topic. So there is no mean to discuss further from here. Just giving my two cents that's all.

No it's fine, I think it's relevant as it sheds more insight into the relevance of a good address.

I agree that it functions like an "additional skill" on the CV too.

Becos very simple answer to your question...once you have 'made it in life' coming in here you can see all these ppl searching and thinking "money is everything" and they are chasing for everyday and posting all these "comparing with the Jones" questions...you kind of have 'fun with them' posting your replies.
If you were to tell these folks, money is not everything at THEIR STAGE in their lives and they will realise this when you are much much older and having attain all that they wanted but not all folks will realise this. Many on their death bed , would still be thinking 'MONEY IS EVERYTHING but they cannot bring one cent or 0.0000001% of their assets over 'to the other side'!
Many of these folks here would not buy this thought now and many never will.😆😆😆😆😆

Bro, that's not the spirit of this thread. We are here to learn more about the preferences of the market, be it for own knowledge or to make more educated decisions in our property choices.

Let's continue to engage in constructive, genuine and meaningful discussions for the benefit of all, thanks! :)

Moral of (an obvious) story / TLDR: No such thing as good unit at low PSF 🤭 Either value buy to rent, or premium buy to own stay.
I think those considering OLA should wait out for Parc Greenwich. Similar locality, more units to choose from if u enter on day one too.

Thats true, if the developer put pool facing lower psf than road facing, I’ll sign up for vvvvvvvvip immediately. But the question is: did the developer overprice the ‘premium’ units? or did the developer underprice the ‘cui’ units? There are many instances that the developer and the marker disagree on the right valuation, which leads to some losses in the resale market that bigblackdog will swoop up.

Yea, it's very hard to value a property until it becomes hindsight. Given this level of uncertainty, ambiguity and risk, I find equity easier to analyse and generate much higher returns too.
