[EDMW] Posting responsibly during the Singapore General Elections Period

Please also note the following advisements applicable during the GE period which we've also updated in the first post:-

Upon the issuance of writ of elections, please be advised that all of the following discussion types are disallowed for the duration of the election period and offending threads/posts will be removed: -

1. Polls/surveys of political parties

This means that once it is announced that election is open, you cannot do a straw poll of how the voters in a particular constituency may vote, whether such a poll is done over the telephone or in person. This is because the poll results might influence the voters.

2. Statements, forecasts and estimated of voting that may affect voting results

3. Political advertisements
Examples include any poster, banner, notice, circular, handbill, illustration, article, advertisement or other material that is intended to promote electoral success for political candidates or enhance the standing of political parties.

For any further feedback or concerns, please kindly use the Report Post function (available on Desktop mode) within the respective forum post. You may also write in to inform the community manager at membership@hardwarezone.com.sg.

Thank you for making our forum community a meaningful space for discussion and information sharing.

Guidelines for Cooling-Off Day and Polling Day

Please note that the following will strictly not be allowed on Cooling-off Day and Polling Day (9 & 10 Jul):

· No display of avatar featuring political parties
· No election advertising
· No publication of election surveys and exit polls (i.e. forecasts, including estimates or statement to the result of the election) before the close of all polling stations

Election advertising is defined as any material posted on any platform that is intended to enhance the standing of, or promote electoral success for, an identifiable party or candidate. Posting election advertising on Cooling-Off Day and Polling Day is prohibited, as this campaign silence period is meant to give voters time to reflect rationally on issues raised before going to the polls.
