Does anyone know if a 100mm lens on a apsc camera lens (160mm equivalent) is long enough to shoot at the zoo?

Thanks in advance.

There will be some shots that you can make good with the 100mm lens, but with animals further away and you desire frame filling without going into aggressive cropping a longer focal length is necessary ..

This was a 600mm on D70 ( taken many many many yrs ago )

This was 600mm stacked with a 1.4x Teleconverter on same apsc camera.

Actually 100mm (or 160mm with APS-C conversion) is too short for most cases. The tiger enclosure is definitely too far for your lens to get a close shot of the animal. Your best bet is at the Fragile Forest enclosure where some of the birds and animals are relatively close.

Anyway, since you only have 100mm just got ahead and use it for the experience. If you can get your hands on a lens that is between 400mm to 600mm is a better choice. A long zoom will give better flexibility.,
