DIA has confirmed plans for their upcoming comeback!
The girl group had originally planned on making a comeback on July 5, but the date was pushed back last minute.
After completely changing the track list, the members are in the final stages of re-recording. The album contains seven tracks including “Sweet Dream” and “Take Me,” which were written by Yebin and Jooeun. It is to be released on August 9.
In addition to their comeback, the girl group is beginning recruitment for their second official fan club. They are also holding a fan-con (combination of a fan meeting and concert) on August 19.
Yoo Jae Suk and Jo Se Ho are set to lead a new variety show together!
On July 18, it was reported that the two had agreed to be the MCs of a new tvN variety show. According to the reports, though the concept of the show has not been finalized yet, interest is high as this will be Yoo Jae Suk’s first venture into working with tvN. He is said to have put his trust in Jo Se Ho, who he worked with in MBC’s “Infinite Challenge.”
They are set to team up with producing director (PD) Kim Min Seok, who has been praised for his work on the KBS variety show “Dragon Club – Childish Bromance.” The PD recently moved to tvN from KBS, and his first project will be with Yoo Jae Suk and Jo Se Ho.
A source from tvN responded to the reports and said, “It is true that Yoo Jae Suk and Jo Se Ho will be appearing in a new variety show. However, we have not finalized details on the concept of the show or when it will begin airing.”
Gong Seung Yeon and TWICE’s Jeongyeon have given an update on the condition of their dog.
On July 17, Gong Seung Yeon uploaded a video as well as several photos on her personal Instagram, which included her sister Jeongyeon and their dog Bbo Song. In the video, Jeongyeon cradles the dog in her lap, while the actress says, “Bbo Song, fighting! So cute, hang in there.” In the other photos, Jeongyeon shows her love for their puppy. The caption reads, “Bbo Song, just [be] like how you are right now, fighting!”
Jeongyeon previously broke into tears during her appearance with the other TWICE members on SBS Power FM’s “2 O’Clock Escape Cultwo Show,” as she was quite worried for her sick dog. Throughout the show, fans and listeners sent their love and support to Jeongyeon.
IU has decided to stay with her agency of 10 years!
On July 18, Kakao M announced that IU had chosen to renew her contract with the agency. A representative stated, “IU recently renewed her exclusive contract with us, and she will be going forward with us as an artist under Kakao M.”
The agency added, “We are extremely happy that we have ended up being able to preserve our longstanding partnership with IU. We will continue to fully support her in every way so that she can promote even more meaningfully as a great artist and actress.”
IU debuted in 2008 under Kakao M (then Loen Entertainment) as the company’s first solo artist. In the 10 years since, she has enjoyed a flourishing career as both a singer-songwriter and an actress.
Kakao M is a large entertainment company that currently manages a number of subsidiary labels, including Fave Entertainment, Starship Entertainment, Cre.ker Entertainment, Plan A Entertainment, and more. Kakao M also recently forged strategic partnerships with actor management agencies BH Entertainment, J,WIDE-Company, and Management SOOP.
Entertainment agencies are working together to find the truth regarding suspicions of digital chart manipulation.
On July 18, Park Jin Young wrote a post on Instagram that begins, “Fair competition and evaluation is the cornerstone for any industry.”
In Korean, he wrote, “Recently, suspicions of digital chart manipulation are being brought up, and those raising the suspicions and those receiving the suspicions are all having a hard time because of them.”
He continued, “We heard that there is a company that has already requested for the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism to investigate. We are also discussing this matter with several other agencies and plan on requesting investigations from the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism and the Korea Fair Trade Commission. Based on the results, we also plan on bringing this issue to the prosecution.”
Park Jin Young concluded, “We hope that the suspicions being brought up will be cleared up so artists and agencies can return to focusing on our primary duties.”
It was revealed on July 17 that the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism is already investigating regarding accusations of chart manipulation for Nilo’s “Pass.” Speculations have also been brought up recently regarding Shaun’s “Way Back Home.”
Back in 2013, JYP Entertainment, YG Entertainment, SM Entertainment, Cube Entertainment, FNC Entertainment, and Star Empire Entertainment joined forces to request investigations of digital chart manipulation.
