As of the date of this Announcement and based on information currently available to the Group, the Group expects that the increased costs to complete the projects, as well as the losses arising from the added delays, will result in significant losses for 2H2021, which could potentially be in the range of the losses reported for 1H2021.

Sembmarine has also been hit by the continuing attrition of skilled workers and work disruptions, including stop work orders, due to measures to contain the pandemic.

.... treat the workers badly who wants to work for you ?

Workers tested positive for covid not separated from those tested negative leading to more getting infected sure will affect projects. Need to chase MOH and dorm operater if have delay.

Common sense like this their management can't handle well, how to trust them to handle their business ?

Looks like this thread will go from being furious about the 8 cent offer, to anxiously hoping to sell off at 8 cents.

SHARES of Sembcorp Marine (Sembmarine) ended at S$0.079 on Friday (Oct 22), below the S$0.08 offer price set by Temasek in its mandatory general offer last month.

This comes as a media report on Thursday said that Sembmarine's work on the Johan Castberg vessel has been hit by "serious manpower shortages" due to the pandemic, and the project owner is set to transport the unfinished components from Singapore to Norway.

The ship will depart from Singapore without a turntable (turret), which entails significant additional work when it has to be installed afterwards.
That the ship will have weakened integrity as a result of it being taken to Stord before necessary repairs have been made at the shipyard in Singapore.

Looks like Temasek is also not supporting the price on the open market. By right, Temasek would mop up all those on the 8c ask queue if it's genuinely keen on a takeover. It shows Temasek is not optimistic on SMM either and is just going through the motion for the GO.

I can't understand either, why anyone would want to incur the transaction costs when they can sell to Temasek at the same price.

Looks illogical to me unless there's something I have not considered ... any gurus able to enlighten? thanks!
