now that the trial launch is delayed, will the full launch be delayed too?

From Oct, they pushed it by 1 month, if they follow their own schedule, then it probably get pushed into January instead of December.

I think one of the goals is also to find out how many people can really set it up without any external help. Later if 5% of the customers cannot set it up on their own, then for every 1000 customers, they will need to handle 50 site visits. It is not possible to simply collect $273 and then leave the customers hanging high and dry if they really cannot connect on their own.

If this new model of getting customers to configure their ONT works well, a full launch is less risky, when people pay money, the clock starts clicking and if they cannot use the internet, there will be a lot of complaints. if they figure out a lot of the people will need help, then there is no point in doing a full launch so fast if there is not enough manpower to cover the whole country. They might even need to come out with new pricing to cover each site visit to install the ONT.

these people who signed up for trial are not common people. they cannot represent the public. if 5% cannot set up for the trial, then may be 50% for launch.

SG has around 1.5mil residential broadband accounts, what is your guess on how have expressed their interest in switching over or intend to switch over once the full launch begins because of the cheap pricing?

Or they can do a $60 installation charge when they roll out full coverage

For $20/mth I am not complaining

The churn rate for broadband is less than 1% each month. The combined resources of all existing ISPs probably only need to handle 15000 site visits every month. Installation charges for site visits, they will need to charge because there is no way to recover from the $20 pricing, but how many site visit trips can they handle quickly is a big question as it will depend on whether is there a massive rush to switch over.

3mths deposit is really uncalled for.
If this is to cover device costs, then it shouldn't even be called a trial.

Furthermore they tie you up with 12mths CONTRACT and want 3mths of prepayment first.
lol, what rubbish is this trial.

I'm curious:
  1. What is the setup process of SIMBA ONT like
  2. What settings can we set / adjust on SIMBA ONT's admin panel
  3. What settings are locked on SIMBA ONT's admin panel
  4. What upload and download speeds are you getting for a direct connection
  5. How reliable is your connection
Thanks!

To be fair, the latest 10Gbps plan from other ISP were called trial too when they launched it, and the speed was not guaranteed too.

They even lock you down for 24 mths.

I don't think they call it a trial. Based on the materials posted here, the header on their marketing email called it pilot launch and the terms and conditions state it as pilot registration.

why deposit is an issue when the monthly fee for 2.5G is only half of competitor's 1G plan price?
the contract period is also half of competitor's typical 24month.

where is the math?
If Simba is rubbish then every other ISP is rubbish*2*2= rubbish * 4,
?

looking at the ONT, there won't be any fixed voice services..
Yeah man, only 1 optical in port, and 1 ethernet out port.
Looks like I can renew my M1 500MB fibre for another 2 years and see what change 2 years later bah

same here, looking to jump ship from M1 once contract period is up.
with fixed voice will be a bonus, but can live without it.
2.5Gbps for $20 is too good to ignore.
hope the feedback are positive...

You can email them to ask. There are adapters which do the same function, just need to connect to the router instead of being built into the ONT, which means selling or getting you to buy another piece of equipment.

Sure.... but still under contract, so no rush..
I believe some answers will surface pretty soon, from the pilot testers/subscribers.
