Haha, you are still young, younger than me anyway.

I used dial-up in the late 1990s and Singtel ADSL services in 2000 or 2001. Then moved to Starhub Cable Online in 2004 and Singtel Fibre in 2012. But I only got quite interested in Home Networking in 2018 after upgrading from Singtel 500Mbps plan to Singtel 1Gbps plan.
In the olden days, M1 50 Mbps Fibre Broadband for the whole household and that is the latest technology in Singapore.

I signed up for the 10gbps cis plan but wanted switch to 3gbps since subscription hasnt started. Didnt need the extra speed and better router after thinking.

Starhub cancelled w/o charges after I said some of the terms didnt match document and email.
Actually i was having the same thinking as you earlier. I believe you are not working from home. In 2023 i upgraded to Homehub ultra speed 10G. My company also issued a wifi 6e laptop to me and many of my devices at home like washer, aircon, smart TV and smart camera etc etc are all on wifi. Now my work laptop can get 2 Gbps download speed with my wifi 6e connection to my wifi 7 router. Time passed superfast and situation changed fast. Actually if two persons work from home then each 2 Gbps connection is just good. 3 Gbps may not be sufficient for a fast connection. Not so straight forward. Of course it is all up to you to decide for yourself. In future i may buy my own ASUS router. At first i also thinking that ASUS router is too expensive especially for the high end one but now i changed my mind and likely get one for my new home in future. My wife said i got what i paid for.

Was singtel adsl singtel magix? Lol
I remember my school had it... Only remember it being expensive.

I remember I had adsl but can't remember which provider.. Definitely not magix.
I still remember 1990s play red alert on dial up... And get dc from incoming phone...

I remember that SingTel Magix ATM was the higher end offering early on. Normal SingNet ADSL was the lower end offering across the island (year 2000). We were using the lowest end Singnet ADSL 256Kbps then. Later we moved on to StarHub Cable Online in 2004. Before ADSL, we were using 56Kbps dialup from SingNet and NTU (got a toll free number but might not be able to get in).

I was using Sunpage pager service for a while before signing up with StarHub for a mobile phone plan. My first mobile phone was Siemens S25, I liked it because of built-in IR and the "colour screen".
https://m.gsmarena.com/siemens_s25-90.php

My wife was using the failed SingTel Virgin mobile joint venture for a while with Nokia 8250 phone. Later we both switched to StarHub Prepaid for quite some time before going to SingTel in 2013/2017 respectively.

Nice writeup of history: 35 years of ICT.

SingNet, Cyberway, SCV, Pacific Internet, StarHub, M1, ...

Actually you can try to get S$30.49 per month for the StarHub 10 Gbps plan with free HB710.

Edit: sorry your case is new user, probably not qualified for the above mentioned recontract offer. In this case, I think your offer is pretty good already.

More competition is good … if not these companies all complacent and start chop carrot … look at uber and grab …. Now grab chop chop pricing …
yeah simba is the best! Aggressively launch 10gbps $29.55, then buy over M1. M1 reduce the price of 10gbps to $36.99.

Good for consumers, we are getting cheaper fibre,

One correction, M1 10 Gbps plan is at S$34.90 per month now, but without router bundling. Effective pricing is now higher than previous S$50.90 per month 10Gbps plan with a pair of Asus ZenWiFi BT10 (S$50.90 -S$21 = S$29.90 per month, even without considering that you can sell higher than S$504).

in reality M1 has increased the pricing across the board in Oct 2025 compared to previous pricing.

(Note: still it is a good thing to offer plans without router bundling as it gives the user more flexibility).

1. M1 mid-2025 pricing

PosKgQE.png

2. M1 current pricing (Oct 20205)

Take note you can still get S$36.90 per month for M1 6Gbps plan if you go to M1 store for sign-up (new user).

Take note you may still be able to get S$29.50 per month pricing for M1 3Gbps plan if you got the rebate of S$3.40 for recontract (existing users)

It is M1 that is pushing SH to offer the promotion. May be next year better offer.

This is true.

M1 and Starhub have good competitions in year 2025 for Fibre Internet.

Even Singtel has to have better offers than last time, albeit still worse than M1/Singtel.

Yes it is a good offer.

But you may also check with Starhub for 10Gbps recontract offer at S$30.49 per month with free HB710, if you are an existing Starhub user and eligible for recontract.

Me existing HomeHub+ 1gbps user, contract ending soon.
received a message that they will increase my subscription $5 due to higher operational cost.
Went to starhub, if i recontract i will be paying $74 per month for 12mths, then $84 for the next 12 months for 5gbps and free router which is feel is pricy.
market bad, so i leaning towards downgrade to without hubbing.

dun think i am eligible for the $30.49 as i am not on the BB service only

You can sign up as new user to enjoy the discount. If you need TV then sign hubbing, if no need TV then do not sign. It is your need that you decide on this. SH can offer you discount if you complaint. It is Netflix Premium increase price. Also must see what TV pass you have.

Now you 1Gbps so you can sign up 10Gbps as a new user, just need to call Starhub sales hotline to ask for the promotion. If you upgrade to 5 or 10Gbps with TV if you need TV and you can ask them to offer you a good price. I am on Homehub Ultra Speed 10G with phone at $92/mth but i have 4 TV passes and Netflix Premium & Viu Premium, sports and Premier.
