Any reason to this phenomenon when the majority here are mostly chinese and buddhist/taoist? Celebrating something you dont believe in and being absorbed in the westen culture/religion is damn hilarious.. Might as well celebrate Diwali and Ramadan lmao


I'm not talking about 2020 alone but the years that precede this. Not much excitement revolve around cny period but such a big hooha when it comes to xmas.

CNY is a season where the chinese worship wealth and show off their riches only.

It's a useless season as opposed to Christmas which is celebrated for the birth of Christ bringing hope, peace and love.

CNY celebrate with family is damn boring for the young ones.

Christmas celebrate with their buddies and friends, so sexciting.

Nothing to do with culture lah. Go beach do countdown also not culture related they all so happy as well.

Jesus is not borned on xmas.. Its a pagan festival that eventually becomes part of western customs

Cny in sg is annoying cause it’s the period where relatives cousins etc will start comparing houses, cars, jobs and money in a subtle manner.

Plus all the wayang courtesy and the need to “show face” when all you want to do is to sleep and binge watch Netflix

Yes. The meaning of CNY is diluted and twisted towards promoting boastful, snobbish and competitive spirit with over emphasis on riches and material achievements.

Xmas is miles better than CNY because my cai png stall is steel open and i won't starve :(
