I was at Giant Tampines.
Only one left for the P8S, if I’m not mistaken.
The C8 still available.

One question though.
The promoter there allowed me to try my Netflix account as I wanted to check 4K playback.
Upon logging in, I did a search for 4K titles.
Selected one and it showed HDR in the description page before selecting PLAY.

I then went home and tried the same title.
My home TV can only show HD quality max.
To me after comparing, it seems the HD quality from my home tv seems better, but I maybe wrong? Cause lighting at the supermarket store might affect viewing
Also some YouTube videos mentioned that for the P8S, need to adjust the setting for every input used from the tv to your preference.
But I may have interpreted or heard wrongly.

I’m not tech savvy. Can I check if HDR means one of the following:
Just a step above HD quality but lower than 4K?
Or otherwise?

Tks.

My home tv is just a normal tv, definitely not a 4K tv.
When I play YouTube 4K videos , while checking the display resolution it only shows 1080 max.

As for Netflix when you select a show or series before playing, they will give a brief description of the show. And at the same time show you the quality. I normally only get HD Quality.

But while using the 4K tv at Giant , it displayed the movie as HDR.
So I’m just curious at what ‘level’ HDR is when compared to HD, 4K, etc..?

If your TV has no HDR, it will not show the HDR logo, nothing to do with resolution.

Yup my home tv doesn’t have it.

So based on what I experienced at the Giant store earlier , with the 4K tv, Netflix was showing only ‘HDR’...

So does that mean it was in SD quality with HDR?

Sorry, if it sounds ridiculous (haha), cause I’m not tech savvy.
Cause at home I just get HD without the HDR (and I understand that because my home tv doesn’t have HDR).

HDR is not 'high Def resolution', it is high dynamic range. Usually (if you have the latest flagship phones) you watch HDR content, your phone brightness will go to max, or to the level HDR is certified at.

Which TV you are using back at home? What kind of 'not nice' was it? Pixelation, color tone etc

Or another case, the screen really can't handle with their LED going full blast?

Not sure how Netflix push their HDR content, it might have upscaled 1080p content to 4k resolution.. but this is just my guess.

Can share how you did the tuning? Thanks.

I just go into settings and tune the brightness, color, black level, gamma, sharpness etc. Tune till the combination works for your taste of the display.

Yes I know what is HDR, Tks.
Maybe my question when written, didn’t come out the same as my thoughts?

When Netflix tags a movie with ‘HDR’ only, in the title description... while viewing it on the P8S....

without any further description of the screen resolution information accompanying it,

Am I watching the movie In 4K/UHD screen resolution with HDR?
Or could it also screen the movie in 1080p with HDR?

I hope the above conveys my thoughts better ?

Yes I know what you mean.
But yesterday, (unless I missed it), the only thing that was displayed besides the synopsis of the show was HDR and the the number of minutes,

Chances are all the huge Giant supermarkets should be selling them, only concern if they still have the stocks that you are looking for?

Tampines Giant
As of yesterday 2pm.
P8S 65” left one.
C8 I didn’t check, but should have more than 1
Lol
