Hi guys, can check what is the best 65 inch TCL model now and where to get it? TIA

65 X9 8K QLED from China, RMB19999 or a bit less than S$4000 (reports say as low as RMB14000)
http://m.tcl.com/tv/2b40d8e9250d41f8ae8a092bc4a464cb

65 X10 4K Mini LED (Japan and EU with Android TV OS, and US with Roku), 8K model coming.

But I do not think it is a good idea to buy such expensive models from overseas without warranty.

Best from Giant Singapore, 65C8, S$1299

I still dont get the difference (panel wise) between the C8 and P8 ( is Giant ones P8M or P8S?) *Edit kum gong morning. Giant ones are P8S )

Would really tempting to buy the P8 saving the price difference for a proper sound bar.

I see. Panel wise C8 is supposedly better than P8M/P8S. It is better you go down and compare in shops.

Major difference in terms of other spec seems to be the integrated Onkyo sound in the C8 series.

Comparisons, not so sure if SG models are similar to Australia models or not

X7 – 55 and 65 inch TVs. UHD resolution with Quantum Dot elements, HDMI ports 1.4 and 2.0 standard. Color depth 10 bits (8 bits + FRC) 60 frames per second. The X7 TV is a mix of 2016-2018 models.

C8 – TVs 55, 65, 75 inches. UHD resolution with elements of Quantum Dot but worse than in the X7 series. Color depth 10 bits (8 bits + FRC) 60 frames per second. Analog of X7 but with worse screens.

P8M – 43, 50, 55, 60, 65, 70, 75.85 inches. UHD resolution. The color depth is 10 bits (8 bits + FRC) 60 frames per second, this series is distinguished by screens that are worse in technical characteristics than in C8.

P8S – 55 and 65 inches UHD resolution, analogue of P8M, 8bit color depth, 60 frames per second.

As mentioned earlier, in fact just 1 month ago, Giant was selling the 55P8M for $599 only... Take note, 55" M.

Now, the 50" S is going for $699 at Giant... :s22:

Xiaofan, thanks for the information! Appreciate it.

The p8s is really attractive for the price and it's 400+ cheaper than the c8..

What about hisense? Any feedback on their models?

I myself have low requirements for TV picture quality and TCL P8S is fine to my eyes. I am even okay with Akira, Harson and AOC TV in NTUC. In fact I am using old Toshiba and Akira TV now, both 40 inch, 1080p and not smart TV. If one of them go bad, I may well go with TCL or maybe AOC (Okay, I admit the old Akira is not that good even to my eyes).

Of course those Sony, LG and Samsung TV look better but they also cost higher.

Hisense is a decent brand, same as TCL. But it seems they have less presence than TCL here in Singapore.

I helped my relative's friend to buy a 65inch TCL 4k TV in Dec 2018 at about RMB 5000 during my short trip to China and I visited them again in Dec 2019. The friend is very satisfied with the TCL.

The following reports say that P8S is of higher end than P8M in Philippines.
https://www.iconicmnl.com/tcl-2019-product-lineup/#.XiFAoLcRXN4

No leh. It only claims P8S as high end, no mention of P8M. Who knows, P8M is the higher end...

Haha. Let the readers here to decide.
*****
The P8 TV Series comprises three models: P8, P8M, and P8S. These models come with the latest Android TV OS 9.0 and supports Google Assistant, the user-friendly built-in virtual assistant that can connect with modern devices for the best smart home experience. They also have 4K Ultra High Definition screen resolution, HDR 10 support, built-in Chromecast capability, Micro Dimming function, and Dolby Audio integration.

The high-end model P8S further sports Wide Color Gamut that enhances color reproduction, with up to 90% NTSC color accuracy and HDR10+ that provides dynamic contrast for better picture quality. The P8S also exclusively sports a full-screen design, delivering a more immersive experience to those watching it.

S$689 for 55 inch (until 29 Feb)
S$889 for 65 inch (until 29 Feb)

Seen in NTUC xTra Jurong Point. Promotion price.

Better stick to known brand. This new Aiwa has nothing related to the old Aiwa, just bought the Aiwa brand, get TVs from an ODM (said to be a joint venture, who knows), stick the Aiwa brand, and then sell.

No meaningful review for the TV either from Google.

Do I need a 4K Tv if most of my contents are 1080p?
I'm in the same boat as you. Currently using a 3 years old Hisense 55" FHD, but its days are numbered, and looking to change. Almost everything I consume are in 1080p, and looking for a 55" or 65" FHD tv but it seems quite impossible to find already.

Will be happy to know if someone can point out where to get one.

Why the need to get 55inch FHD now that 55inch 4K is cheap enough?

You do not need to get 4K TV if your contents are 1080p, but if the price of the 4k version is low enough, why not get the 4k version? This is especially true that there are no decent 55inch TV which is still 1080p.

On the other hand, if you are getting 40inch TV (or even 49inch), then it makes sense to go with 1080p since it is perfectly fine to go with 1080p for 40inch TV and there are still plenty of choices for 1080p 40-49 inch TVs, for example, TCL S6500 series Android TV (32 inch, 40 inch, 43inch and 49inch) or the D3000 series dumb TV.

Price is a big consideration, every $100 saved is another $100 I can spend somewhere :)

But yes I agree that the 4K prices has dropped so much that almost every brand has a affordable model. One of my concern about using 1080p content on 4K is upscaling. I do not own any 4K tv and I've not tested anything myself but read that upscaling can make the picture looks very bad, especially close-up (2-3m) away. There are reviews that says the picture quality are better on native 1080p panels than upscaled 4K panels.

Will be helpful if you can share your experience.
