Update successfully from Android 9 to 11. Colour is not as good as V653. HDR and HLG video become dim by a lot. Switch back to V653.

Hey guys, apologise for jumping mid-way into the thread.
i'm planning to get tcl tv since I saw all good reviews including here.

i was intending to get c825 model but i don't need the integrated soundbar since i'm throwing in my jbl soundbars.

any other model I can go without the soundbar? How about model R648?
is there any huge differences with c825 vs r648?
648 is 8k. Abit more exp for the same size vs c825 and r646.
648 also is Roku tv, c825 is Android tv
I believe 648 and 646 uses true 10bit panels whereas c825 is 8bit+frc

Hi Guys need a bit of assistance . My TCL 65" C8 model is currently showing latest OTA as V8-R851T02-LF1V634. I have tried downloading the V653 version from a few pages ago and attempted to update manually. Made sure the usb drive was formatted to FAT32 and copied over the unzipped fie to the root of the usb drive. When I tried to flash the firmware it showed no update file found for both usb ports. Tried to do local update in system also shows no update found . Is the version I had downloaded correct for my TV?

So can Roku TV use android/Google apps besides having Roku apps?

Hi @stasio have anyone tried V078 on R646? Or should I go with T02-LF1V023?

TIA
For R646, buyers should ask seller to provide new firmware.
Initially came with M103 version (Google TV), which many reflash with C825 version (Android 11).
Since August, TCL start to release dedicated version as V8-T615T02-LF1V0xx.
To flash back from T615T01 to T615T02, I think need IMG T02.which is not on TCL server.

Latest for R646:
T615T02 (N.America) is for the following TV models:
- R646
V8-T615T02-LF1V072

Edit:
Before flashing V078 (IMG file !), I suggest to try V999 with local update.

Hey, just get the R646. I have it and it is very good for the price. You dont need the R648 unless you are watching 8k native. Some reviews said that the R648 is not so good at 4K as compared to a native 4k screen. So the R646 would be more suitable, and it is Google TV. Just need to do manual OS updates for now.

How's the V999 for you? I tried it and I noticed the white balance is slightly different from V072. Saturation levels across the 20pts was more accurate at default settings. Less black crush and reduced over Saturation at bright whites. Could make out the different grey bars at default setting.

There is no 65" for the 646 :( I would be interested in getting that

Just get the 75 inch if you are not sitting awfully close. I had a short lived 65C825 and figured it was not big enough. Was using 55inch in the past. 75 inch can give u the cinematic experience, especially when pair with the latest dolby Atmos speakers like the Sony HT-A9 or Samsung Q950A (I have this). I no longer feel the need to go to the cinema with the 75 inch around.
