Based on this data, which is the best bang for buck cpu to get? Am planning to get a new pc few months later either in Dec or next year Jan where stocks is readily available.

Should I go for ryzen 5000? Or would ryzen 3000 be more value for money? I am intending to get the 3080 graphic card too. Not looking to overclock.

Been using intel for the last 20 years already and noted AMD already caught up to them and wanted to try out. Currently still using Intel processor from 3 years ago.

For ryzen 5000, seems to me like the most value for money is 5800x but seems to be more on the exp side so I am quite hesitant to get that.. saw some ppl in the forum commenting to get the 3600x or 3700x which is more value for money...

My main purpose is just mainly for gaming and working from home. My work involves running many applications at one time e.g autocad.. not sure this needs more ram or a good processor to help. Thanks for advice.

Your use case the best bang for buck is actually a 5900x, it's weird but it is. You get 50% more core for like 120SGD (~20%)

since ur use case is gaming and cad work, i would actually suggest intel. u dont have to get the top 10900k, something like a 10600 will do. cad work is more frequency bound, so getting something that clocks high out of the box is more important. u can get the 10600k too, but u do have to shell out more for a z490 mobo to take full advantage of it. multitasking wise so long as u have more than 4 multithreaded cores u should be fine.

Hey guys I am already starting to finish my build while waiting for Zen 3.

If I am using MSI MAG X570 Tomahawk, should I go 2 x 16gb RAM or 4 x 8gb RAM? (if I am not wrong 4x8gb is better?)

AFAIK 2 x 16 have better latency.

I'm currently using 2700x, would it be recommended to upgrade to the 5900x, or to stick to the 3900x?

Big leap to 3900x. Huge performance leap to 5900x.

If your motherboard can support the 5000 series, I'd go for the 5000 series.

Limited stocks and it will fly off the shelfs during launch, price will not adjust much until AM5 launch.... or intel come out with a more superior CPU (unlikely until 2023)....

Intel Rocket Lake CPU might overtake the throne again, since it promise 10% IPC uplift with not much impact on clock speed (and Intel CPU is reasonable priced this time round)

The cheapest AMD 8 Cores CPU went up from 329 USD to 449 USD, a whopping 36% increase.

I will hold off the Intel I7-11700K (or their highest end 8 cores offering)

The only thing that is currently worth buying for Zen 3 is 5900X, the rest is moot.

Like that tough, not sure which to go for : X570 or B550 :s22:

Do you know how much is the difference between X570 and B550?

Example :

MSI MAG Tomahawk B550 - $278
MSI MAG Tomahawk X570 - $314 (come with Wifi 6 built-in among other additional features)

Which one will you get?

Rumored this better that that. Just wait for official reviews from YouTube reviewers than will know if it’s really better or not.

Noticed nobody really talks about Zen+ architecture (2000 series)...is it because its too old in the market?

Intel Rocket lake max out at 8 core only. Also it is going to consume lots of electricity while simultaneously dumping lots of heat into your room. So you might need to turn on AC which adds on to your electric bill.

Even thou 5900X has the lowest cost per core of $46, i think 5800X will give the best gaming performance. 5800X has all cores are on a single CCX with min latency albeit coming in at $56 per core price.

And such mentality is why AMD is charging so high for their Zen 3 8 Cores. So here comes the question, The 5800X is 29% more expensive than 10700KF which has the same core count. Does the 5800X offer you 29% more fps? Or using that $100 USD to top up to better GPU would make more sense?

If there is any consideration, the 5800X will not edge out more than 5% than 10700KF in fact, especially for games. Is there a need to spend 28% premium on smth that for that edge (some games will still run faster on Intel, there wont be doubt)

Also Intel LGA1200 can last for another gen, meaning u can top up to 11700K after you are done with 10700KF. While Zen 3 is at the last cycle of AM4 socket.

If you have to spend for the best CPU, just get 5800X and it will fool-proof you for next 5 years to come. The CCX latency involved is negligible (just like 10700K vs 5800X) but u have 50% more cores.

so will the 3x series drop price when 5k release? is 3600 still the best bang for buck?

The 3000 series will not drop by much. Unlike the move from 2000 to 3000, the 5000 series carries a bigger premium so the 3000 remains attractive.

Cant wait for AMD to regain 50% of the Pc market share. Let’s see how long Intel can carry on bleeding.
