I know it's system build but how much is the shop charging for the cpu?

$1,130 for the CPU.
It is not shop. I got the CPU direct from Convergent.
I am doing DIY now for customers mainly specializing in full custom loop watercooling.

Unfortunately it is difficult however there should be more stock next week though very limited. And after that I heard it's only after Jan allocation for Singapore. Not sure how true.

212evo bracket

i dont go for aio because i more towards durability & realistic performance.
The purpose of aftermarket cpu cooler over stock cooler is using the big structure to transfer the heat to the air, rather than throttling the fan speed to achieve the cooling effect. i prefer quietness.... ;)

i am open minded to all brands....
snowman/deepcool....$20~$25
currently using Deepcool Gammaxx 400...very quiet.

cpu displayed "received by 11-12 Dec" during ordering but now showing estimated delivery 18 Dec... zzz hopefully it'll be earlier

My 212evo looks different from yours, I remember it's a adjustable 2 bars X cross, with a bracket screwed to back of motherboard. Currently used on my 2500k (LGA1155). i know mine can fit on LGA1151, but not sure about AM4

As my pc will be on 24/7 in non-AC environment, I'll probably monitor how's the load & temp first. (Current load avg ~50-70% at 50-60°c with 212evo) If AIO able to reduce the temp significantly for ryzen im open to options but hopefully with a value for money impact instead of brandings/blings haha

same...my current temperature...
idling - less than 45
full load - less than 62

aio is for cool looking & "so-call" performance, not value for money especially to 24/7.

Hey guys.

Would upgrading my dated i5 8600k @ 5ghz to the R9 3950X see a substantial improvement in performance for current and upcoming modern games?

If playing at 1080p, perhaps. 1440p and above gonna be negligible. But 3950x for games is an overkill. Much better to go for 3900x I feel.

your mobo can support 9900k so might as well go down that path :s22:
