I really don't get why ppl must deliver at private hospitals when they are not equipped to handle complications.
Assuming they were all priced the same, KK or SGH would be the first choice. However because its cheaper, people look elsewhere..
:s22:
Private hospital also can handle complications but just that can most afford to pay anot ? That's why if there are complications detected earlier , the gynae will advise u to go public route instead.

I think equipment wise kk n sgh? Private not as gd?
But I don't understand
For those paying expensive bills can they deduct more from medisave or it's just abt pro rated vs using govt hospital at subsidized rate?

As above...

All three of my kids Mount E orchard. Because our gynae from there. Single room, C-section for all three kids, so quality was a real concern for us. Cos C-section is no joke the third time round.

And if you do some research, it ain't much more expensive than Thomson.

Ours was Dr Ann. Fann Wong also went to her. Her clientele list is like a who's who of tai-tai society.

But my wife has got auto-immune SLE case, so it's actually an uncomplicated pregnancy + delivery (hindsight) but based on complicated pre and post-natal thinking/procedure/whatever. "kiasee", which is good anyway.
Things could really go wrong real fast at any part.....and doesn't end until the kid is a good 6-12 months.

That's why 2nd one transferred from Mount E to SGH. First one didn't even know got condition at that point in time, coz we were in Beijing touring when my wife kena a crazy migrane due to the air pollution there (about PSI 300+) for 48hrs and went to their 朝阳 beijing hospital, and from there saw the high platelet count which warranted further investigation as advised by the Tiong doc (all the auto-immune/anti-nuclear antibody tests done locally). Only knew of the condition in 2013 during the BJ tour

So means not everyone will know they have this condition? It's in build her sys n not because she's pregnant?
So unless do the high palatelet count else won't be requested by normal SG doc too?

My wife is expecting soon and i checked that the hospital charges around $2xxx for natural birth exc gynae fees. I see some comments here and elsewhere mention that they paid around $10-14k. Now I'm confused if i calculated wrongly.

U never say where n what bed how others help u
Is it called expecting soon or giving birth soon or in labor soon?

Thought i will clear up the misconception. Size of the baby DOES NOT depend on the type of birth example natural. Yes you can push a 4kg baby out naturally. Natural birth risk is much much lower than C-sec risk.
(unless u saying 5kg and above kind. oh please)

Though some ladies pelvis may be small but its usually very low percentage.

My 4th was born out at 3.87kg naturally without painkiller/drugs or cutting. I did have a bit of tear . My first was 3.75kg born at 37wks naturally without painkiller too except for laughing gas which was forced on me as i struggled to push away. Gynae did comment he didnt understand why baby was so big when husband and i were small sized. Esp even when i was losing weight, my babies were on the bigger side.

I didnt have good experience with TMC but thats 8-6yrs back thing, they kept forcing formula and extremely not pro natural birth. The nurses also were rude and forceful.(maybe cause i was a teenage mum)

On the other hand KKH midwives were marvelous. I had a natural birth there without keep psycho me to take pain killer or giving me face colour etc. They were very professional, kind and sweet

Say is easy
If things happened then diff story liao
There's one that appeared in wanbao or what
The mother baby big n I think the whole area is affected. Shld be got crack or what
It's a very serious case. But few yrs ago can't rem what happened to her. Think she has problem controlling bladder too
Or by weight won't know the size of the baby since the bone weight also can be heavier or lighter right ?

First 2 KK, 3rd TMC coz followed gynae. TMC better by a mile as it's not as crowded.

I do not know which case you are talking about. But alot of woman have issue with weak bladder after birth esp when sneezing then leak pee. Every birth has risk and sometimes due to incompetency of doctor they can suffer from alot of different issue.

For those with pelvis issue can always have emergency C-section If natural fail which is why they called it emergency C-section. And for first time mums. It's normal to tear quite a bit. I teared to near my Anus as baby is quite big. But if you were to ask me again natural tearing vs csec pros and cons. I would choose natural all over again as its also much better for the baby.

Ultrasound can gauge the baby weight and size. Although usually not accurate as first and fourth were estimated at 4kg
