Given its on now, beijing's Olympics then also the same. They destroyed many shoddy looking towns and forcibly relocated the villagers in the vicinity. Protestors were beaten or arrested.

What they couldn't remove, they built huge billboards to block so that it wouldn't be caught on foreign cameras during the events.

Meanwhile, CNA Olivia Siong's report got show the piles of debris and trash after the floods subsided from yesterday news. She also commented on the stench as it had been lying around uncleared for days. She also got to talk to some local residents. CNA and CCP very gam? It's a pretty good report post-disaster given CCP like to sanitise. This one doesn't seem apparent.

What do expect to see after a major flood. I saw the news and find it quite irrelevant. CNA is really becoming crap these days.

I expected to see nothing firsthand from them in China. They don't like to be portrayed in a bad light afterall.

Once they hear you're from Singapore. They really give you face value gaogao. Even govt official during press conference when hear is from Singapore news eyes will open bigbig and smile.

Means the propaganda is working

Focus on the 'natural disaster' narrative and property damage instead of lives lost or sudden release of water from dams

Logically speaking, you expect them to hold the water until dam breaks meh?

It's either opened early and downstream gets consistently flooded. Or they open last minute, and downstream gets massively flooded suddenly. First is definitely better, so just up to why they choose to hold longer.

Logically speaking, measures would be taken to ensure ppl evacuate, rails shut, roads closed to minimize damage
