thanks everyone for helping me to start & narrow down my google-ing. think i will use external SSD, but i dont think i have thunderbolt port, i only see like USB 3.1 ? still can use?

thunderbolt only works using usb c connector. it's the symmetrical kind that can plug in any which way.
