If the bank has it, they will let you have it. If not it means they ran out of stock.

You need to pre-order a 10k note from a bank. Go the branch, tell them you want to order a 10k note, they will advise on when is the next the availability and reserve it for you.

Why do you want to collect notes?

If you have $10k, it's better to collect $10k worth of gold than notes.

When in was green, I used to collect both notes and gold, now I only collect gold.

Notes don't appreciate in value much unless it's a rare piece and it's difficult to find a rare piece. SGD 10k note is not exactly a rare note, it's value is most likely to remain the same for the next 10 years.

Of course, buying gold, knowing when to buy is important as gold price fluctuate a lot more than notes.

Oh, the $10k note is not gonna be produced anymore? Maybe can frame it up and hang the wall. There should be a note that says, "In case of emergency, break glass". :s22:

I'm not a note collector but I have a couple of old 1980's 1990's US notes which DBS does not allow me to bank in. They only allow year 2000 and above.

If everyone thinks that it is not worth it to collect $10,000 notes, then $10,000 notes may become very rare and valuable.

If everyone is collecting $10,000 notes, then it may not be as valuable.

I dun do this kind of thing. Fire come or people steal. 10k leh. Your heart also ache. Take pic and keep as memory is good. Keeping physical note or gold is never a good thing to try.

Handled $10K notes just once, when many years ago I withdrew my FD from 1 bank (or rather a finance company), went down a few doors to another bank, and deposited there. IIRC they will record down your NRIC and name when you deposit.

I know what you mean.

I have the old lion, bird and ship series.

They are beautiful to look at and I have no intention of selling them.

If you just want to collect and don't care about their value, then you can go ahead.

However, if you are doing this with the intention to sell high value in the future, then you are approaching note collection in the wrong angle.

Personally I would prefer to invest the 10k on some dividend stock for passive income instead of the note.

I used to have a 10k note which I exchanged so I can bring cash easily when flying overseas... imagine holding the purchasing power for several laptops in a space smaller than a credit card is magnificent :D But the problem is they are so rare most foreign bank are reluctant to exchange it unless you go to DBS foreign branch (Most of the foreign DBS branch has never seen 10k notes either)

Now I just carry around several 1K dollar notes, they are generally enough for my overseas expenses and still light to carry.;)

As agreed with the rest.

If thinking will appreciate, the value will be very very slow, cannot beat inflation in time to come.

Looking at older notes, some nice notes don't worth alot because it is not in perfect condition.

For collection wise I think its okay. Hobby mah :D

Try asking Rosmah. Each piece is like RM30,000 to her and she could have lot of it (in her storeroom).
