May I know what do "Axis" and "VA" mean ?
Googled and didn't understand
![]()
all prescriptions with astigmatism needs a correct axis . for a lens edger that's the direction to cut the lens
Optical axis - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
yours meant the right eye has an astig power of cylinder-0.50D at 160degrees
VA is visual acuity . or how well you can see
Visual acuity - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
6/6 meant it's fully corrected . you could probably see better than 6/6 but they don't particuarly need to put anything better
it's used for some as a message for the next person reading that you don't have eye problems
are the lights in your room ample?![]()
Actually I don't need glasses, but since I stare at computer screen for long hours, I just went ahead for Crizal Prevencia.
Ever since I've started using LED monitors, I find it quite glaring compared to CCFL backlight (even with anti-glare coating on the monitor, brightness level at most 25).. after some time will get a little blur vision esp. when reading text on screen.
actually it's because the power is too low, at 1.5 index the lens edge would chipped off easily at slight pressure for rimlon frames(half frames) because the lens is too thinwin liao lor.....this kind of degree and the shop staff still recommended you to go for even thinner lens.....
same for rimless, it's like dropping your handphone . for people who drop stuff often 1.6 has a better tensile strength to prevent damage
unless you assure the staff you are a careful person and wouldn't come back and scream at them when your lens chip off it's best to take 1.6
Whats your eyes degree? Even though its half frame, there really is no need to go for ultra high index unless your degree is super high. I have an old pair of half frame glasses with 1.60 index lense(degree around 600+), it looks thick at certain angles but to me no issue. Vanity comes with a price so some people are willing to pay more for thinner lenses even though its not even necessary.
actually when the lenses are too thick the prismatic effect is greater . your field of vision also narrows . glare from lens edges also increased .
it's not really simply a vanity issue
I knew a guy who once wore -8.00 with a 1.5 lens , he made sure it's a small thick frame
