山葉Yamaha rxv685雖然係7.2系統,但係未必平到可以低過$1000。
Now, Onkyo TX-NR686 looks attractive for its range of connections and few zones for audio. lazada dealer sells at S$770.00 by Electronics Specialist and S$809.00 by FEPL.
if you want the atmos experience then 9 channels would be the minimum.

Thanks for telling me about the reliability issue with Onkyo. I went to google check and noted Onkyo has some technical problems. This tells me not to look at price of equipment alone, I should also google check on problematic av receivers of various brands before giving an opinion.I prefer to buy locally because of warranty coverage. Also, I've read that Onkyo is not great with reliability. Yamaha is quite good and so are Marantz and Denon. Onkyo may offer good value, but I want a receiver that will keep working properly for a long time.

So what did you buy in the end ?
I had 3 amps which died on me, and makes me thinking that all amp manufacturers colluded to make their amps with a limited life and never to last forever. They are Harmon Kardon, Onkyo and now Yamaha. After the experience, my strategy is to buy the cheapest amp that satisfy my needs at the time (both sound and features) and never to future-proof it. Expect them to last for 5 years and to replace with an up-to-date one at the time, if it kaputs.
I'm now using Denon 2300 and 1400. An Onkyo 686 is on the way to replace the Yamaha. The denons are good and after calibration, very good for movie surround, but not so good for music. Missed the boat for a Denon 3400 on clearance sale in Jan this year. Read about the Audyssey XT32 being very good, but have yet to really hear if it indeed produce better sound if at all only marginal and if for music too.
What's the typical lifespan of AVRs now?
Audyssey XT32 definitely good I have it on my old Onkyo TX-NR818 but I just fried it today spark and then .... I am looking for a new AV now
Hmm.... we'll get to know later when they start to fail, but from my experience of the past generations of avr, I'd say 5-8 years.
Recently a salesman said modern AVR should be more reliable but that's a salesman's job.
Just had a search on 818... interestingly it was launched in 2012 and already implemented XT32. Fast forward to today, Onkyo has dropped Audyssey completely for AccuEQ. Wonder why Onkyo dropped XT32, or Audyssey for that matter.
Hm, get a Class D AVR e.g Pioneer if you want it to last longer ?
The component that fails is often the power circuitry, notably capacitor.
How's Class D able to last longer than Class A/B, other than the former would save electricity but inferior SQ than the latter ?
越做越頂唔耐。。。我屋企兩架飛利浦影音擴音機用到宜傢十幾年除佐遙控反應遲鈍之外,基本上其它功能都無問題。仲勁過喇叭添!What's the typical lifespan of AVRs now?
