RIP... so scary![]()
Like that is the worker fault for taking shortcut not informing the operator that he is going to be in a place where the crane might hit him while it is in operation.
I think the reason is cos these workers are men. Its not because of danger per se.You mean it only applies to them?

Men in general like to take more risks compared to women. The worker probably feel confident with his judgement that he is able to execute the task quick enough before the crane will hit him unfortunately in this case he made a misjudgement and couldnt get out of harm's way quick enough and got crushed.I think the reason is cos these workers are men. Its not because of danger per se.
Men usually believe that as long as the job gets done, it does not matter how it was done. Women don't care if the job is done if the proper steps are not followed. Unfortunately, this trait also makes men easy to work with and women to be "niao"
So workplace safety applies to everyone but men usually don't bother too much with it as long as the job gets done.

I kind of remember Aloysius pang and how he died during reservist training. Apparently he was confident also.Men in general like to take more risks compared to women. Moral of the story... dun try and be hero in dangerous situations... one judgement lapse and u gone case.I kind of remember Aloysius pang and how he died during reservist training. Apparently he was confident also.
workplace fatalitiesA migrant worker died on Wednesday (June 22) after being crushed between the undercarriage of a mobile crane and its counterweights.
This takes the total number of workplace fatalities here this year to 27.
The accident occurred at 10.15am at 1 Mandai Quarry Road, where the Home Team Tactical Centre, a facility where elite officers from the police and Singapore Civil Defence Force undergo joint training, is located.
The Ministry of Manpower (MOM) said the 32-year-old from India was retrieving shackles from a toolbox located underneath the chassis of the crane when the crane turned clockwise and crushed him.
The police were alerted at 10.20am, and the worker, employed by Hwa Yang Engineering, was unconscious when taken to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital, where he died.
MOM said the Singapore Police Force is the developer of the work site and the occupier is China Construction (South Pacific) Development Co (CCDC).
Investigations are ongoing, and the ministry has instructed CCDC to stop all lifting works at the site. The police said they do not suspect foul play.
According to an internal email seen by The Straits Times, CCDC said the worker who died was a trained rigger and signalman.
He is the second worker to die
in an accident at a CCDC work site this year.
